 This Saturday, on December 1st, the eight SubCity techno-arrangement will be held at Chateau Neuf in Oslo, Norway!
After the cancellation of the last SubCity NewYork which was supposed to be held just a few days after the tragic terror-strike in NY it's time to continue with a new arrangement.
For those of you who don't know, SubCity is kind of a theme arrangement that is held in Oslo. This time the theme is Frankfurt because of the city's influence on and development of the electronica-scene. Along with London, New York and Detroit stands Frankfurt with its well of DJ's, producers, clubs and studios that have raised many good underground-artists as well as commercial successes.
Allready early in the nineties a techno-culture started glowing in this city with artists like Pete Namloo, Sven Väth and Pascal FEOS. During the first half of the nineties tranceartists like Jam & Spoon and Dance2Trance climbed the charts all over the world.
After this many other artists took over and lead by Hardfloor, who plays at SubCity this weekend, Frankfurt turned to a more techno-like direction. This sound has evolved over time and has been strongly influenced by both the Detroit-techno, EBM and earlier productions by for instance Kraftwerk.
The last few years Frankfurt have followed the rest of the world and now produces some of the best techno around. Many big artists spend lots of time in their small studios mixing new sounds and creates the underground of today! The clubs follows along, and even if legendary clubs like Omen doesn't exist anymore you will find plenty of them.
At SubCity on December 1st you will be able to experience the real Frankfurt-feeling - driving trance, deep house and whipping techno! This is what Frankfurt stands for - a diverse musical culture and openness to new genres.
