Outback – Minds in Motion
This first production starts off with a simple kick and hi-hat medley, leading into a funky sounding bassline, squelching almost, which progresses slowly into a more complex riff, leading us through the first 2 minutes, and into a nice change of beat, and lovely piano-like riff, simple, but rolling & effective. This 5 note riff echoes on, and more percussion is added slowly, in the form of a clap, and then the earlier squelchy bass comes back too, leaving us with a tune befitting Summertime very well.
There is no huge breakdown in this song, everything is so laid back and perfectly done to give summer vibes, so as the piano fades out, a deeper bass sound comes in, but it all flows so well, no huge beats needed here. Another Melody comes in just before the 5 minute mark, and we have a simplistic but effective track, which would fit in great early on in a set, nothing major, but it wouldn’t be needed.
Overall, a Very Interesting track, which I’m sure will get the airplay it’s due, 7/10
DJ Danjo & Rob Styles – Aragon
Beginning with a lovely soft string sound, you get a real feel of relaxation here, with sounds that are eerily smooth and chilling, leading us to a deep low bass, and a flanged effect on the strings here, giving almost the feeling of an aeroplane passing over your house, slowly soaring. A beautiful soft synth is used next, giving us a slow feeling of tranquility, but leaving us ready for the next act in this buildup.
The aforementioned occurs when a spooky synth is used, and the strings fade out, leaving us ready for the kick and the bass, deep in its sound, and a techy percussion, very much like the works I’m used to from Danjo & Rob. This spooky synth carries on through a range of techy percussions, each one extremely nicely done, as it slowly changes aspects, in a way that probably wouldn’t be noticeable unless you were listening very carefully. The Tech sound continues, and goes on towards the end, leaving it ready to be mixed.
This song is beautifully effective, I sometimes think it is hard to have an intro tune that can be beautiful, but set a dark & deep mood for a set, but I think this is achieved here, and I’m definitely going to be looking at playing this one for the coming months! 9/10
Signum – Push Through
Finally in this threesome of tunes, we have a new production from the legendary Ron Hagen & Pascal Minaard. This builds up with a sound befitting the legendary year of 1999 very well in the kick used, but it has the sofisticated percussion that you find more of In 2003. As I hear the kick & the clap, I can’t help but think of the awesome anthem Out of the Blue which is the feeling I get as I hear the crispness in them. The bass slowly rolls through your mind, and a lovely almost oriental sounding melody comes in, long notes, soft & gentle, and progressing into a breathtaking melody.
As the song loses the beats, we get into a compelling string with other soft sounds floating around, endlessly. A melody that is sending shivers down my spine builds in, and definitely gives me a feeling that I don’t always find with epic trance all the time now. The song is Hands in the Air Material, and I can imagine DJs banging it out to thousands of ecstatic clubbers wanting more of the beautiful sounds. Carrying on, this song is very close to being perfect in my opinion, and carries on not predictable, simple but awfully effective, and the lovely sounds echo on through the rest of the track.
It really is great, and amazing to see Ron & Pascal back to their best! 10/10
Conclusion:
An awesome start by the labels continue with these 3 tunes sure to play a big part of summertime anthems!
