© trancetribe.comGodskitchen comes to the Australian shores in October, bringing us a premiere event with international dj's such as Marco V, M.i.k.e and Cosmic Gate, but the main buzz around town is the local uplifting trance dj who has scored the gig of his life.

In a scene dominated by hard trance Steve Strangis has found it difficult to break through with his uplifting style. Having been ridiculed, criticized and let down on a number of occasions this young Melbourne talent has been launched into what I can only describe as the biggest gig of his dj life. Only last year I was standing next to Steve watching Armin Van Buuren belt out the tunes, but this year there will be a slight twist. I will still be standing at the front again but I will be watching Steve live out his dream by playing beside his idols.

So who exactly is Steve Strangis? This 21 year old from Melbourne has been around the trance scene for quite a number of years. His uplifting style hasn't changed much since he started and his passion and spirit for it grows by the day. His determination to stick with his own style shows his courage, dedication and persistence to never give up.

It hasn't been an easy road for the youngster, having missed out on playing at the same event as Paul Van Dyk in 2002 due to a lack of ticket sales, the room he was playing in was subsequently shut down. If this wasn't hard enough he also had to earn the respect of many hard trance dj's who didn't like the style he played. In a scene predominately run by hard trance finding regular gigs wasn't an easy task. It has been persistence and the belief in himself that has brought him to the forefront of his career.

It was not to long ago that Steve had early morning gigs in tiny clubs with a crowd of no more than ten people. Now he has regular gigs in Melbourne and has been up to the east coast of Australia and played in the major cities of Sydney and Brisbane. This year he also found himself playing in the side room when Paul Van Dyk came to Melbourne. He has a small army of loyal fans (enough to run an island in the pacific). So what's so likeable about him??

Firstly, it's his mind blowing trance sets, his track selection is like no other and his mixing skills are always spot on. This boy has some real talent. Secondly, it's his charisma, the way he carries himself and seeing the enjoyment and enthusiasm that he gets out of playing in front of a crowd.

He is a delight to watch his story and the long road traveled reads like a fairytale. The quiet achiever, who wins an uphill battle of struggle to become victorious and conquer the world.
Hopefully, he has opened the door so that other dj's wont have to struggle as hard as him in a world were you are seen as the outcast. He should be an inspiration to all aspiring dj's out there that persistence, perseverence and determination will work in your favour and maybe one day you will be playing along side your own idols thinking I finally made it. I want to wish Steve all the best not only for his gig at Godskitchen but also for the rest of his dj career I really do hope it is a long journey and that he remains happy.

Many thanks to Jolz for the words :)
