[i:Vibes] Reader Cam went to see the 2 guys on their tour down under, find out here how it all went on a special night in sydney!

We arrived at GAS about 12 midnight; the line was long as usual, about a 20 min wait. Pulser (Andy Perring) and GTR (Gareth Emery) were playing to the ‘progress’ crowd (regular Saturday night, Progress@GAS) so it was full of people ready to go hard as progress is a hard trance night.

We hung around on the lounges until about 1 when GTR was meant to play but no GTR, 20 mins later Gaz kicked it off, finally some relief from the driving bass from the hard trance and some melodies rang out!!.

I was buggered from playing on the same decks only the nigh before a Halcyon (double GAS weekend) so I decided to ease into things and watch for a bit (yeah right).

Gaz played some awesome tunes and the crowd acknowledged the likes of Solid Globe – North Pole, John Askew – Skylab and Gamemaster 2003.

Halfway during his set I noticed he was mixing out of North Pole and into a CDR track. It was weird he kept starting and stopping the cd like only bars from the end of north pole, then with like 10 seconds to go he suddenly mixed in a track from vinyl, and the mix was perfect. He took out the cd and showed a friend, must have been scratched but lucky.

3AM – Time for Pulser, he opened with Rapid Eye – Stealing Beauty mixing straight into GTR’s set. The pace picked up a lot and I was on the floor!. Pulser was amazing track after track the energy intensified.

The sounds of As The Rush Comes (armin van buuren’s universal religion mix) began! And before you knew it 15 -20 TA’s and ITM’s (tranceaddict, inthemix) members began singing the words at the loudest we could. We had the crowd staring and then in the breakdown Andy pointed at as and applauded. Singing and swaying, what a moment.

The tunes kept coming, Firewall – Sincere (Pulser Remix) absolutely melted the floor! The set was intense and he even played overtime. He finished with none other than Pulser – Cloudwalking right after Veracocha – Carte Blance (Ronald Van Gelderen Remix)

I manged to speak with Gareth after his set and I must say he is such a down to earth guy, he stayed next to the booth in the crowd section for the whole of Andy’s set having a drink and just chatting to people like he was a general punter. He gave my mate a white label copy of Cern – The Message because he bought his vinyl to get signed, and was saying something about it not getting released because of problems.

He even gave us his email address and said he would take us to one of his gigs when we head over there …. What a champ

I had to ask why Pulser didn’t drop his mix of The Eternal as I was hanging for it but he said he had played it in every set they had played on tour so far.

They both aggred that the tour has been great and the love Australia but the 22hr flight is a downer.

Gareth commented on how he thought the gig @ GAS was the most enjoyable so far as the crowd was so up for it.

All in all a truly great night.

They really produced!

Thanx Gareth and Andy come back soon
