We have a quick encounter with Scott Mac and see what tidbits we get out of him this time around, from one of the biggest names in trance these past 2 years.
Scott Mac Interview.
Over the past two month's Scott has remixed and produced tracks that have been released on Nebula, Positiva, Blackhole, Jinx, Incentive, FFRR and Data as well as his own Limit Recording's label. His own Limit label has had full support from Judge Jules and Radio One, and his name has graced the review pages of Mixmag, iDJ and DJ mag time and time again in techno, trance and hard house. One of the most consistent UK DJs and producers over recent years, Scott is looking for the top spot in the upcoming period with his new label Limit Recordings and a couple of new tracks in the pipeline.
i:Vibes: Would you like to debunk the myth as to whether or not Scott Mac is your real name?
Scott Mac: Scott Mac is my artist name.
i:Vibes: and where are you from?
Scott Mac: Deepest darkest south London, picture high rise blocks and no green.
i:Vibes: Your music is defined as "Hi Tech Trance and Hard Future Funk", what's your music all about?
Scott Mac: I try to incorporate various styles in my tracks but always remaining energetic and funky.
i:Vibes: With residencies in some of the hottest dance music bases in the world, where are the best club scenes for trance these days?
Scott Mac: For trance and the style I play I would say the UK and Holland
i:Vibes: Arguably, your best known and most popular production has been Drax & Scott Mac - Angel, but with close to 80 productions and remixes under your belt, which have been your personal favourites?
Scott Mac: If sales are to go by the I have would say that the co-production I did with Signum (of Coming on Strong fame) was my most popular, but my personal fave would be The Speakerfreaks - POS 51
i:Vibes: On the lines of productions and remixes, what can we expect to see from you in the near future?
Scott Mac: New tracks on my own Limit label and remixes for both FFRR & Armin'S Blue Fear ON Nebula, you'll have to see.
i:Vibes: The top tracks in your record box these days?
Scott Mac: 1. Silvio Ecomo - Uprising (2play) 2. Scott Mac - Damager3 (Limit) 3. Harry Diamond & Cern - Techno Grooves (Nukleuz)
i:Vibes: Get a chance to hit the Ibizan shores this summer?
Scott Mac: Was playing JUDGEMENT SUNDAYS with Anne Savage and Judge Jules, which was nice.
i:Vibes: Thoughts on the current phases of dance music?
Scott Mac: It's always changing so you have to move with it as styles come and go. i:Vibes: And with 2004 looping around the corner, trance here to stay?
Scott Mac: It definitely is for me.
i:Vibes: Any last words of wisdom for our readers?
Scott Mac: You can take the banana out of the tree but never take the tree out of the banana...
Thanks to Scott and Kate @ MW for this.
