We had to wait for years for John's first solo project, but the wait was definitely worth it. Le Voyage EP has 4 amazingly well produced songs, that will definitely get a place in your heart. Read on for the full review...
Tracklisting: The Main Voyage (feat The Digital Blonde) Tour De Trance New Sound Finnished (feat Miika Kuisma)
The Main Voyage has been co produced by The Digital Blonde, a personal favorite of John 00 Fleming, and when you heard some of his productions, you’ll know why. This starts of with a pretty heavy baseline, and with a lot of cool effects… Welcome to John’s world! Then creepy vocals take the upperhand and they swing the track completely around, going from a dark world, to a place where everything is possible. The first few notes of the melody begin to seep through, and it hits you that very second… This song is amazing… But it’s more then amazing, the breakdown just doesn’t come to an end and you just don’t give a f*ck. It is perfect. When it all comes together, melody, synths, sound effects, base line, you’re in for the ride of your life… or should I say for the voyage of your life?
The next song Tour De Trance starts off in the same style of John’s remix of Energy 52. The same warm baseline embraces you tighter then your girlfriend who just came back from a 5 month trip. The breakdown is fingerlickin’ good… Poverful synths hit you around the head demanding your full attention for the breakdown. This is without a doubt, one of the best breakdowns I have ever heard.
New Sound is something different, a lot faster (around 142 BPM), and you can hardly contain the energy that comes from this track. Add to that a computer sound saying ‘It’s a new sound’ and you know what you’re in for. This song shows only the tip of the iceberg of John’s production skills, which we all hope to see a lot more from in the future!
The last song on Le Voyage EP, Finnished comes from John 00 Fleming together with Miika Kuisma aka AR52. Miika has a release planned on J00F in the next months, Enigma / Air Traffic, a double A Sided release. A lot of goodies coming from the J00F stables. Starting of with a typical kick drumbeat, this reminds me of the ’99 sound trance. Remember all those beautiful uplifting trancers released that year?? This has that ’99 feel all over the song, without it sounding outdated. Because it’s sounds fresh, new, and has it’s own style encrypted in the song.
Conclusion:
I was very eager to hear the new John 00 Fleming material, and I have to admit, he did it again! John has made 4 different songs, 4 different moods if you will. Going from dark, creepy noises, to a lushful song, from a 142 BPM monster to a all inspriring coproduction with Miika Kuisma. BLISS describes Le Voyage EP in only one word.
