A nice progressive trance track, Amplitude - Daydream, on the Fourty5 label which should stick in your mind, for all the right reasons.
While progressive trance may not be favourite to everyone, I think this track shines out and heres why...
There are two mixes to be heard here, the Club mix on the label side and a mix by DJ Esteem on the info side.
:: Amplitude - Daydream :: Fourty5 :: FF203002
A: Club Mix The Club Mix starts as it means to go on - with a really chunky beat. This is accompanied soon by some percussion and a stab of atmospheric synth every 8 beats. What makes this track is the layers it has - another stabbier synth is added to the growing amount of layered sound. This all subsides to something very minimal for a quiet almost melodic breakdown. With a sudden whoosh the chunky beat returns and you're thrust back into the main progression. The excellent thing about the main 'melody' here is that it really seems to capture some form of emotion - its almost desparation but is persistant at the same time - so it becomes a track you can really 'feel'. Another minimal breakdown follows and then you're treated to a final main section before the layers start getting removed to finish this gem of a track off.
B: DJ Esteem Mix The DJ Esteem Mix on the other side has the same progressive feel and is similar in nature to the Club Mix, but it is a lot more upbeat with a cleaner kick and crisper percussion. The main synth in this mix is a much more electronic sounding one which gives this mix a nice noticable difference in character to the Club Mix. Another interesting thing to be noticed is that there is only one rather short breakdown and a total of 12 mini 4 beat breaks at the end of the various sections. This keeps the track flowing while at the same time avoids it from sounding too repetitive.
If you're into your progressive, you should love this. If you're not, I think this record may well reach out to you.
Conclusion:
Two really good mixes of a very nice progressive trancer that should capture some minds on the dancefloor and also a place in your heart.
