Italian techno king himself, Mauro Picotto, is back to provide us with two more inspiring pieces of techno!

With this new EP, Mauro Picotto once again has produced two tracks in his own distinctive and unique style - Playing Footsie and Amazing.

:: Mauro Picotto - Playing Footsie/Amazing
:: Alchemy
:: ALCHEMY001

A: Playing Footsie
Playnig Footsie is a slower and funkier sounding track. A deep rumbley bassline rolls along with a nice mesh of percussion to start. Soon, the beat becomes more pronounced and you notice a synth in the background playing a repeating 2 note pattern. The bass and the synth add a strange calmness to this track, keeping the heavy beat at bay. As the track progresses, the synth becomes more and more coarse until the track breaks down. After the breakdown, the synth is developed into a very simple melody to roll us along to the end of the track.

B: Amazing
This track definetly lives up to its title! This track features a very nice hefty, pounding beat with some crisp percussion and an absolutely cool sound in the background. Its almost like a very coarse ambience and it is this that make this track sound... 'amazing', much like the powerful pounding bass of Picotto's Awesome made it sound 'awesome'. There is a very electronic sounding breakdown where the bass is cut out, the backing sound is developed, and then the bass drops back in with force to continue to the main breakdown. Again the bass is cut, and the track builds up - it almost feels like a 'wind up' - using a kind of pitch shifting technique and a drum roll and then you're just catapulted into an ocean of thick bass, beats and backing synth. Its such a powerful sound which will have people writhing around on the dancefloor for sure. After a few minutes, the backing synth subsides and using the same pitch shifting, the sound rolls down to a much darker, evil sound with rolling beats carrying you along to the end of this marvellous piece of techno.

This record is an essential buy for Picotto fans and fans of techno alike. As with some of his previous productions, these tracks would fit in outside of a techno mix very easily with wonderful resulting action on the dancefloor.

Conclusion:
A wonderful pair of tracks on Mauro Picottos latest EP. If this is a sign of what to expect from the Alchemy label then it has a bright future ahead of it! As Picotto has put it so well himself - simply Amazing.
