Finally, after plays from a lot of DJ's, this little gem from Stereo 8 sees the daylight... Read on for the full review
Stereo 8 are a Bristol based breakbeat trio, who have released this massive slice of breakbeat for Fingerlickin Records. They are named Tom, Julian and Simon and they make incredibly funky breakbeat records. So they come out with FLR43, which contains Can’t Stop on the A Side and Flipmode on the B Side.
Can’t Stop is a funky ass breakbeat tune that the Plump DJ’s have been playing out in recent sets. Can’t Stop starts out slow with some cool snares and drums but then picks up with this funky breakbeat groove. It has this funky vocal going on thru the track and it adds to funky breakbeat track. You then see why the Plump DJ’s love it so much because it is an infectious groove and makes you want to get out of your chair and just start dancing. Perfect for those deejays looking to make their sets more diverse.
Side B brings us Flipmode, which is my fave track of the two. It is a darker affair than the first track but it incredibly addictive. Has this amazing “Are you homeboys” sample running through the song. Has these cool EQ effects running around the vocal sample with some nasty breaks. Stereo 8 seem to make funky records but all their records are addictive and difficult to shake off.
Conclusion:
Verdict – I give it a 9/10 because Can’t Stop is an infectious groove that makes you want to dance and shake what ya mama gave you.
