After releasing their album “Eargasm” in the summer, the Plump DJ’s decided to give this track a full release with some remixes. So on part 1, you get the Plump DJ’s Dub and another track…..read on for the full review.
The Plump DJ’s are back to release some remixes of a track that they released on their album, which they released on Finger Lickin’ called “Eargasm”. If you have not heard of the Plump DJ’s then you probably have been living in a cave for the past three years. The Plump DJ’s are Lee Rous and Andy Gardner who have become a steadfast in the breaks scene. I first heard about the Plump DJ’s via the Mixmag CD that they did for Mixmag in 2001, which sold 140,000 copies and really cemented their reputation. They added famous 80’s name Gary Numan to help with the sample. As you see why the Plump DJ’s are in demand Worldwide because of their smart productions. Part 1 – Plump DJ’s Dub/How Much Is Enough
Finally the remixes for Pray for you come out and they are proper tunes. The Plump DJ’s hijack their own tune and give it the dub mix. It sounds so amazing without the vocals and you hear the groove on the tune. This is bound to cause some serious dancefloor damage when played, so funky but yet so driving. The original track was amazing but the dub mix makes it seem even better. The track contains this infectious groove that makes you just want to dance, when you hear it.
Next comes How Much Is Enough and has that computer robot sample going throughout the track. I think this mix is more for underground breakbeat purists but then again, to each his own. The track has an old school type feel to it and sounds like it was made more in the late 90’s than 2003 but it is done deliberately. The track contains a funky groove with a sample of How Much Is Enough. This track contains a hook that is addictive and after a few listens, it has converted me.
Conclusion:
Verdict – Truly a great 12” and it’s only one part of a double pack release
