Vivendi Universal have been the owner of MP3.com since 2001. Now they have sold it to CNet Networks who have new plans for this site.
Just before the weekend the first rumours started spreading that MP3.com would close its doors. A press-release was sent out about CNet Networks buying it and that mp3.com as we know it today would be history within a few weeks.
Now it's revealed that the database with over 750 000 songs from more than 250 000 artists will be deleted by December 2nd. This means you should go visit the site now if you want to download free music from your favourite MP3.com artists!
CNet Networks informs that they will create their own music-site, but have no information about what kind of site it will be. However they tell it will not be another iTunes or Napster 2.0 service.
