Not much is known about Slyde but what is known is that this is their second release. They are known for releasing funky breakbeat tracks and this is no exception…read on for the full review.
Krunk is an old school 1980’s sounding breakbeat tune. It contains this funky hip hop element with some element of electro, all in one tune. After a few listens to this song, it really grows on you. It has an incredibly old skool hip hop feel and I love it now and think this would cause dancefloor mayhem. The song picks up after a few minutes in and get this nasty groove going which is why the song is so good. They should have named it FUNK not Krunk because a tune that is this funky should come with a warning label. I can now see why many of the A list deejays are hammering this tune because it’s sooooooo funky. Truly a piece of funky breakbeat.
This is a funky tune like the first one but has less samples and effects than the first one. The voice in the tune sounds familar but I cannot remember where I think I have heard this voice before. This song still seems a bit too weird for my tastes with all the samples and effects thrown in. Not as funky as Krunk but very good thoughtout. The tune is not as good as the first one and I can see deejays like Freq Nasty playing it but it is just not my type of tune.
Conclusion:
Verdict – Krunk is the better of the two tunes in terms of funk. Krunk is a record that grows on you with a few listens. I can see the Plump DJ’s playing both of them in a club. So if you like funk then this is a record for you or if you enjoy old school hip hop sounding records then this is also for you. Solid release from finger lickin'
