After 8 years, Matt has decided to put an end to his Gatecrasher residency...
This is what Matt had to say on his forum:
After eight years I have made the decision to end my Gatecrasher residency.
I can’t say that it has been an easy decision and it is one that I have been considering for some months now. I would like to say that my decision has come about as a result of an amalgamation of various factors that have made me believe that the time is right. My loyalty and dedication to the club over the years has been unwavering and I can only hope that this has been appreciated.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of the Gatecrasher devotees who have made my residency so special. At the risk of sounding soppy, your support has meant the world to me and I have met so many great people who I now consider to be my friends. I know that this isn’t goodbye and I know that you will understand my decision. As we move into 2004 I can only look forward with great excitement and hope to see you all in the many clubs I’ll be playing throughout the UK and overseas.
I played the last set on Boxing Day knowing that it would be my last one as Gatecrasher resident. I decided to play Solar Stone- Seven Cities as the last tune as I think that this tune, above all, encapsulates my experience at the club over the last 8 years. I am not ashamed to admit that I was fighting back the tears. As I played Grace- not over yet as an encore the irony really hit me.
It’s been a great journey and yes, it will always be with me!!
What can we say other then an era at Gatecrasher has ended with the departure of Matt. But we at i:Vibes (and everyone else) hopes that Matt will only become a more established name in the scene, and we wish him good luck in 2004.
