The street carnival inspired 'Carnival' E.P. from Cave has been remixed and is ready to blow your door down in the way only real pumping techno knows how!
The 'Carnival' Remixes are on the ID&T Shockers label - and these two beauties will shock your ears into a state of awe. What you have here are two unique and wicked techno tracks and they go a little like this...
:: Cave - Carnival E.P. (Remixes) :: Shockers :: 7007015
A1: Carnival (Max Walder Remix) Max Walder was responsible for a pretty mean remix of Tiesto's 'Traffic' back in September and his style remains the same for this remix. Instantly the track starts out with its booming bass supported by a whole host of Latin sounding percussion. Slowly, another more distinct layer of percussion is introduced - the tinny sound of a huge number of carnival drums banging highly rhythmically in the background for which this track is known. The breakdown is the cool 'follow my lead' drum solo where one lone drum taps out a rhythm and is echoed by an extreme amount of bass boosted carnival drums in return. This eventually breaks back into the main 'tune' - booming bass fuelled by the highly spirited carnival drums. There is another 'follow my lead' type break which precedes more of the great main section. This track doesn't really relent towards the end. Instead it ends in a triumphant finale from the carnival drums. Absolutely banging!
B1: We Go Krazy (K.Cee Remix) This is a very interesting track. It begins with an ambient section which quickly grows a beat and eventually some basic percussion. The track really begins when the bass is added - a very gritty electronic bass which sounds similar to a plucked bass guitar. This really drives the track along. Ambient sfx are blended well throughout the next section, up until the breakdown. Here, everything gives way to a vocal sample. The sample sounds familiar - very Latin in style, so fitting to this release. Then there is a rather unexpected transformation - a very soothingly ambient section. However, this quickly breaks straight back into the main tune with the beat and gritty bass, this time accompanied by the vocal sample. The end of the track is different too - instead of winding down, it almost winds up! The last section includes a giant echoing drum which adds some more hype to the track, which eventually dwindles away into a sea of ambience.
Conclusion:
A great set of remixes! The remix of 'Carnival' is without a doubt absolutely banging and will get any dance floor moving along to its spectacularly thunderous beat. 'We Go Krazy' is also very good - it is filled with interesting sounds and good ideas that all work very well indeed!
