Lawsuits against pirates in the US, surveys show that because of these lawsuits piracy has been halfed. I bet the RIAA are happy now.

The wave of lawsuits against illegal music downloads initiated by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) have marked their first successes. The number of illegal downloads has been halved in the USA since the first verdicts were passed against the music thieves, heavy fines were levied and pirates were humiliated in advertisements and on posters.
This is, at least, what has been established in a representative survey. The effect this development will have on the record sales and legal downloads remains to be seen.
