DJ Tatana and The Mystery's 'Soul Cry' has finally touched down. This awesome track has been snapped up by the RR division of Spinnin Records and is now fully released since it first became available as a limited test pressing in late November. This time round, I have all the information...
:: DJ Tatana Vs. The Mystery - Soul Cry :: RR :: RR019
For the original review, there were no mix names at all - just 3 unlabelled tracks. Now the full release has arrived, all is made clear! Tracks A1 and B1 from the promo have been swapped around for this. What we have now is as follows:
A1: Soul Cry (The Mystery Remix) B1: Soul Cry (Sam Sharp Remix) B2: Soul Cry (Original Mix)
-The Mystery Remix- This remix is the most epic sounding of the three. Big trance synths breaking down to a calm orchestral break, followed by even bigger epic trance synths. Very melodic, uplifting and beautiful.
-Sam Sharp Remix- Now we know its a remix by Sam Sharp, you can immediately recognise his distinct style - big sharp stabs of synth. While retaining an epic quality, a sinister and urgent edge is created. This contrasts highly with the mellow orchestral break. Its hard to pick a favourite between this and Mystery's remix.
-Original Mix- The previous two mixes took the original to new levels, because it sounds rather different to them both. The synths aren't as powerful and are not as reverberated so as not to take over the track entirely. Also, as opposed to epicness, the original has a feeling of anticipation fuelling it along.
Conclusion:
The Mystery and Sam Sharp remixes steal the show here, with the Mystery Remix just in the lead. A set of awesome tracks, finally fully released and available!
