Sam Sharp is back on RR and this time its with his own full on production! There are two mixes of this fierce hard trancer called 'Twister', which is to be released late in February, the Original Mix and a separate Sam Sharp Remix both crafted in Sam Sharp's own distinctive style...!
Sam Sharp has been busy these recent months. He has remixed top tracks such as Ron Van Den Beuken's 'Timeless', E-Craig's 'The Beat Goes On' and the awesome 'Soul Cry' by DJ Tatana Vs. The Mystery. Each one has made its mark and they have all been very very well received. Here is Sam Sharp - Twister...
:: Sam Sharp - Twister :: RR :: RR020
A: Original The Original gets off to a very quick start, jumping right in there with a clean and punchy beat, very prominent percussion and a nice deep flowing bassline. No sooner than this has established itself, there is a mini break which quickly introduces the main synth. Its a big highly reverberated synth that powerfully stabs out the notes of the main hook in Sam Sharp's highly recognisable sinister and urgent style. The breakdown is a short section of calmness, which then brings the focus back onto the main synth, building it back up and then back to the main section of the tune. Later, there is a quieter section without the lead synth, which is reintroduced after a short break. Sam Sharp has done very well to find his own unique 'sound'. Because of this and because he has fine tuned it to perfection, it doesn't require masses of variation in order to hold interest - its massive sound, its sense of drive and feeling of power make the simplest of melodies come alive.
AA: Sam Sharp Remix This remix, also by Sam Sharp, is very similar to the original although it does have its key differences. The beat used in this one is a lot meatier than the original. Also, the track starts immediately with a very deep bassline that booms away and drives the track onward. From here, the track establishes itself by introducing extra minor bits of percussion and sfx, eventually culminating in the gradual introduction of the lead synth playing the stabbing melody of the main hook. The synth is a little bit different too. It sounds a lot more reverberated and has much a smoother, less grainy sound which is very very nice when coupled with the strong bass and beat. The actual melody isn't as energetic as the one found in the original either, but instead it is accompanied by a higher pitched note. This also works really well. Again, like the Original, there is a quieter section without the melody which leads to another breakdown and then on into a final main section before the track ends.
Conclusion:
'Twister' is an excellent tune! Both tracks pack a punch with Sam Sharp's great stabbing synth melodies. For me, the Sam Sharp Remix just comes out on top - the big bassline and tweaked synths sound awesome. Both these mixes are sure to get the dancefloors moving! Brilliant!
