This has been causing quite a stir amongst the people. The great vocals by Sarah combined with the excellent remixing skills by Gabriel & Dresden and Satoshi Tomiie are a perfect combination.
Side A: Gabriel & Dresden Anti-Gravity Mix Side B: Satoshi Tomiie Interpretation
2003 has been the year of Gabriel & Dresden without a doubt, numerous remixes, a lot of own productions, one of them being Motorcycle - As The Rush Comes, which is the one tune of 2003 that everyone knows! When remixing a vocalist like Sarah McLachlan, it is always a tricky business, are they overusing the vocals, or maybe they aren't using enough of the vocals? This remix, the Gabriel & Dresden Anti-Gravity Mix, is what you would expect from any Gabriel & Dresden remix. They have created a perfect beat and melody to go with those divine vocals by Sarah. Gabriel & Dresden haven't overdone it, the combination of the vocals together with the production skills of the duo is a perfect match. This remix is being supported by all the top jocks like Armin Van Buuren, no wonder why, it is amazing. The breakdown is of such a quality that you just can't believe it. The vocals during the breakdown sends shivers down your spine, touching you where you thought you couldn't be touched. This is so much more than just a remix, it is a work of art. If I could, I would frame this song, and put it up in art gallery hehe
On to Satoshi Tomiie Interpretation: The melody used in this Interpretation is different, it sounds a bit weird, but it sounds great together with the vocals. The vocals sound more distant in this remix, which is a good thing, because when you would use the vocals to the full extent, they would overpower this remix. This however is not the case with the G&D remix, they use the vocals as much as they can, but the melody suits it better. The short melody in the breakdown is soothing, relaxing… The few piano parts in it are nice, and there are just enough elements to surround you completely.
Conclusion:
Two great remixes, but like most people will say, the Gabriel & Dresden Anti-Gravity Mix has just that bit more. More emotions, more feelings, and last but not least, more vocals, and that is what makes this song so special!!
