Robert Gitelman and Jaron Martinez are back with a follow-up to last years `Control Of Your Mind`, that did very well back then. Read on to find out if this is a worthy follow-up...
G&M Project (as in Gitelman and Martinez) is any of the many aliases used by Robert and Jaron. They have also released numerous hits under the 2 Players guise, all being top-notch productions and remixes. Their trademark-sound can be instantly recognized, which is only a good thing because of the superb quality of all the productions they did. Let's see what this vinyl will bring us..
A-Side: Original Mix
Introduced by a somewhat tougher beat than we're used to from the guys, it is instantly hearable that this track has been recorded at a somewhat lower BPM than usual. Building up with some cool percussion-FX and bassy synthlines we get to a first mini-break at the one-minute mark. A bassy sound gets its introduction, being accompanied by a rolling bassline a few seconds later. Many effects get added on the background while listening to the build-up, all being very original and sounding very clear. After 3 minutes of build-up pleasure, we get to the break. All that remains is a rusty synthline building up in a very innovative way by introducing more synths and bassy elements. The filters get raised, what causes the melody to become alot more powerful. The tough beat returns, telling on the people on the dancefloor to start jumping around. It gets even better; after a slight silence, the percussion and melody return fully, but in a way that is loads more energetic. The full climax sounds awesome: the immense melody, accompanied by the tigh percussion just can't let you stand still in any club. After the climax, the 1.5 min. build-off starts, easying the mixing in of the next track for the DJ's.
M.O.R.P.H. remix
We all know M.O.R.P.H. from his production `Creatures`, his new gem `Flaming Clouds` and the load of remixes he has done in the last few months. Directly at the start of this mix, I thought about some earlier tracks by Rank 1. The percussion sounds very alike during the first minute, but after these 60 seconds it all gets going by the introduction of a fierce bassline. The background contains subtle references to what is to come, and the track gets more powerful by the use of alot of nice synthlines. At around two and a half minutes, the main break starts. This is where we get to hear the first similarities with the original: the melody is building up in a very recognizable way, but this time with a few higher synths. As the melody gets more powerful, we hear the percussion building up on the background, blasting us into the climax. It all sounds very nice and energetic, but it lacks something compared with the original mix. It seems like the melody is just a little less energetic and full, but still very good to do some damage during a set.
Conclusion:
ID&T has continued their tradition by bringing us another very nice trancer. This track is, compared to their previous release `Control Of Your Mind` a bit more energetic, and uses a somewhat better percussion. The original is what you should buy this piece of vinyl for: the M.O.R.P.H. remix is decent, but just can't seem to add something extra to the original. Be sure to buy this when you like some energetic trance!
