Heres something you don't get to see everyday! The huge ASOT label brings us a one-sided 'A State Of Trance White' with a remix by Perry O'Neil of St. John Vs. Locust's awesome trancer 'Mind Circles'...
This little special seems to complement the launch of Armada's new progressive label, Electronic Elements. Perry O'Neil has produced this mellowed out remix of 'Mind Circles' and is also working on some more progressive tracks of his own for the Electronic Elements label.
The Original Mix of 'Mind Circles' was a wonderfully uplifting piece of trance. This new remix by Perry O'Neil is a stark contrast to that, make no mistake.
:: St. John Vs. Locust - Mind Circles (Perry O'Neil Remix) :: A State Of Trance White :: ASOTW001
One-Sided: St. John Vs. Locust - Mind Circles (Perry O'Neil Remix) The track begins with a beat and an echoey synthesised ambience in the background, which is present for most of the track. The kick used is very tight and punchy. A few hi-hats make for a delicate touch of percussion, which is backed up by some tom-toms in the background. This really helps to increase the feeling of calm in this track. After a short while, a bassline is introduced to keep the track flowing. The bass used isn't very prominent but still draws enough attention to itself to develop the track and keep it progressing. A synth is soon introduced - it is a very delicate sound, dancing on the same few rising notes over and over again. A jittery sequence of notes along with heavy reverb makes the synth sound almost as if it weren't really there. There is a fairly short breakdown, where the synth becomes a little more dominant and when the track breaks the sound is filtered a little more to create another progression and a difference in sound. The synth resumes its delicate position and the track moves further onwards. Throughout the track, there are some very heavily sampled vocal samples. These samples are nearly the only evidence that this track is actually a remix of 'Mind Circles'. A final and very short break sees the end of the synth. From here, the track steadily plays out towards the end - slowly cutting each little bit from the sound until there is nothing left.
Conclusion:
This is a very progressive track. However it has a very calm and relaxing feel to it and the synthy middle section helps raise feelings very well - well enough to hold interest. That said, this one will only really appeal to die hard ASOT fans or the lovers of the more progressive side of trance. But there can't be many of these floating around, so make your decision quick!
