Rapid Eye - Santa Cruz [ATCR]

Rapid Eye is the name behind the partnership of Steve Helstrip (Thrillseekers) and ATCR owner – Tim Stark. These guys have a great reputation in the Trance scene for producing consistently good quality music. Santa Cruz is no exception!!

Rapid Eye Mix
From the start of this track, the unmistakeable sounds of Rapid Eye are there which is not a bad thing at all. The layers of percussion build excellently as do the synths as it gains momentum! A small break before everything kicks back in with masses of power and drive! The snippet of vocal is used very well here to take the track to the next level. Here we get the changes in bass line and synths and you know this is gonna be good! Into the main break and as bits fade the beautiful pads build taking the listener on a journey! As the pads swell, the lead creeps its way back in to awesome effect building up to a climax where the kick flies in and takes the track away! Here we are treated to Rapid Eye at its best with sweeping sounds, stabbing synths and great fx. These hold the emotion at full whack for exactly the right length of time before fading down indicating the end of this fantastic track.

MK-S Remix
Newly signed to ATCR, MK-S comes up with a belter for his first outing on the label. I think this is the start of an exciting career in music for MK-S if this mix is anything to judge by. From the off there is nice sounding percussion and the bass line slides into the track effortlessly. The sounds gradually build in a more progressive way than the RE Mix holding back on the note changes and keeping it almost subtle. Again the beautiful pads fade in and swell to maximum effect but here, the pads are used for a shorter time and the break features more on the lead sound. This works very well with the rest of the sounds on this mix. The break builds and builds with the kick roll heightening the power till it all comes together with a bang. We’re then treated to a session of uplifting trance not too dissimilar to the original. Again the track holds steady before fading down at the end. A very strong remix!!

Conclusion:
Rapid Eye have yet again produced another monster track that will ignite any dance floor its exposed to. All the sounds are there and blended together for maximum effect!! MK-S provides a fantastic remix which really gives the RE Mix a run for it’s money. Personally I’m undecided which mix I prefer.. Great stuff from ATCR again!
