Dreas steps up and presents Havannah, with a track also entitled Havannah, as the first on Trance Revolution Recordings. This one seems to be causing quite a stir - read more to find out why...
There are 3 mixes to be found on this record. On the A side there is the Original Mix, on B1 there is the Mike Shiver Remix and on B2 is a remix by Misja Helsloot. This fresh piece of trance has already found itself places on the playlists of big name DJs such as Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren and Matt Hardwick.

A1: Original Mix The entire beginning section to this mix is one steady growth of sound and instruments. A lone beat and percussion is backed up with a gentle bassline which exhibits some occasional high bass notes. These high notes gain a sequence of their own as a wave of sfx rolls across the track and brings with it a beautiful sounding instrument playing a few solitary notes over and over. This instrument sounds very much like a guitar but with a synthy edge and a whole load of reverb. The breakdown features this instrument as it slowly plays out disjointed parts of the main melody. This seems to consolidate as the parts merge and the melody gains momentum. A layer of percussion is added and a real feeling of build up is present. The bass and kick jump back in as the wonderful melody is played out across the track. Theres a very calm feeling about this track, yet as soothing as the melody is, it contains an energy which makes it even more so uplifting. After taking a short break, another breakdown follows and the main melody gets another chance to build itself back up and float magically above the main body of the track after the tune drops back in. The track plays out to the end very similarly to the way in which it began, except in reverse order. It takes its time to wind down, not cutting any corners to reach the end before it is time.
B1: Mike Shiver Remix The Mike Shiver Remix begins with a much punchier beat and more noticable percussion. The addition of a rather energetic bassline and a medley of gentle synth notes playing over and over softly in the background indicate quickly that this mix is aiming for a much trancier kind of sound than the Original did with its soothing yet uplifting guitar-synth fronted melody. The breakdown that follows is full of gentle melodic ambience which pave the way for the guitar-sounding synth to make a solo appearance. This time though, it has a much more abrupt and pronounced sound, almost as if it were being plucked harder - perhaps a little too hastily and fiercely. The track drops back in with a wave of thich trance synth chords dominating the main body of the track. The guitar begins to play over the top, along with some other periodic stabs of a highly reverbed synth which works alongside the main melody. From here, the track cuts out layers and winds down to a close.
B2: Misja Helsloot Remix Misja Helsloot's interpretation of this track takes a very different approach. There is an intro section which posesses a tribal flavour but has some very electro sounding instruments playing along with it. A deep bass plays along and around the kick and ajittery synthline plays in the middle of all the sound, constantly being filtered in and out. There is a fairly long break which features the jittery, filtered synthline along with the bass and some vocal samples. A very broken up breakbeat brings the track through a backign synth and sfx driven build up back to a 4/4 beat. Here, a light and wavy, high pitched synth plays out the main melody. This eventually cuts back out to leave you with the jittery synth and deep bass notes until these too leave and the track kicks its way to a close.
Conclusion:
The Original Mix of 'Havannah' is a truly massive monster trancer! The two remixes support it well, with Mike Shiver taking a much trancier route and Misja Helsloot providing a very alternative sound. Still, the Original Mix takes the best portion of the glory and rightly so. An absolutely excellent track and an excellent start for TRR!
