Smith & Pledger are back on Anjunabeats since they went head to head with Matt Hardwick to produce the quality 'Day One'. This time around, they are presenting their new melodic trancer 'Forever'...
Smith & Pledger have been working hard lately - they have completed remixes of the excellent 'Rise' by Mono and also 'Love Me Right (Oh Sheila)' by Angel City since they finished their remix of 'Day One'. Now, its time for a production of their own...
:: Smith & Pledger - Forever :: Anjunabeats Promo :: ANJ025
A: Vocal Mix The vocal mix starts off confidently and fairly quickly, with the lone kick and soft bass soon being joined by a more prominent bassline and a nice helping of percussion. This is one of those beginning sections of a track where everything slowly builds as lots of smaller parts are added in as time passes. Initially, there are a few instruments playing simple miniature melodies of their own. At the same time, there is a synth chord presence fading quietly in from far, far in the background. These dreamy smooth synths are given a brief snare roll introduction after which they step into the foreground. Next is the only breakdown in the track. The backing synths play out alone and are used as a soft synth mattress for a rather nice female vocal. The main melody makes an appearance as the track builds back up for its drop and this continues along with the vocal. This melody is varied upon and increases in complexity, being accompanied by more vocals and a lot more soothing synths. There is a rest period during which the synths subside, but build back up again when the vocal is reintroduced. Another brief snare roll break brings in one final main section featuring the nice vocals, lovely synths and delicate melody - all wonderfully intertwined. After this, the track plays to its end much like the way in which it began.
B: Instrumental There isn't much to say about the instrumental. It is exactly like the mix on the A side, except all of the vocals have been removed. This is obviously a nice touch for those who prefer no vocals or for when a set requires something non-vocal.
Conclusion:
Another fine track on the Anjunabeats label. 'Forever' is a classy piece of vocal trance which isn't overpowering but instead blends lots of simpler aspects together to form a wonderful sounding track. Of course, theres the Instrumental Mix on the flip for that all important non-vocal flavour.
