The Green Martian-Ladies and Gentlemen
The irrepressible L-Vee is back! The King of Clubs latest production goes back to one of his earliest guises. The Green Martian
What can Bonzai’s Super Producer know under such names as V-One/Two/Three, Airwave, Velvet Girl, Planisphere, Bodyshock, Fire & Ice and Lolo to name a few, come up with? Will it be yet another epic stormer to add to his already impressive catalogue and rival the likes of classics such as Progressive Future (V-Two), Dead Cities (V-One), Full Moon (Bodyshock), Above The Sky (Airwave) Lost Emotions (Fire & Ice) and Industry (Green Martian)? Read on and I’ll tell you!
Play list ** DJ Airwave, DJ Fire **
Ladies and Gentlemen (Original Mix) 135bpm
Ah! Pounding beats, dark and dirty basslines! It’s The Green Martian. L-Vee’s style for none stop progressive mayhem isn’t everyone’s cup of Trancey tea.. But no one can deny he knows how to make people dance!
So once the vocoded vocals of ’Ladies & Gentlemen’ hits, the song drives away. The wonderful ’side to side’ motion is there as with all of L-Vee’s songs, thanks to a huge sounding bassline. This builds and builds in the normal L-Vee stop start set up, adding more hihats, until a mini break ensues adding more sound to the bassline with a dark sequence version. All in all, this monster goes for at least three minutes, until a spooky club filling sequence creeps in, then out, then in again. The break sees the vocoder take centre stage (It sounds like that funny alien bloke off Galaxy Quest! Hehe) which really works, sounding totally out there! The relentless drum booms back, adding loops of effects and synth every 4 beats leading to a massive snare crescendo.
The song cuts back to the build and the spooky sequence in a mad rush to the finish. WHAT A MONSTER!
Ladies and Gentlemen (Remix and additional Production Marnik Braeckevelt) 135bpm
The remix starts in the almost exactly the same way. Loops and Flange to the ‘Ladies and Gentlemen’ vocals and then the baseline kicks in. In fact this remix is almost the same song, only adding a bit more substance to the spooky sequence in the build up, plus an extra dark sequence in the main break.
It doesn’t really change the song that much, only to make it that more darker. The build and the break are almost identical which is maybe a little of a disappointment because it would have been nice to hear someone remix it and make it their own, rather than having a Green Martian update! Still the track is fantastic. (Extended Sound sample on the links section)
Conclusion:
L-Vee is one of the most influential producers ever and it’s easy to see why. There’s nothing flashy about his productions, just pure dance mayhem. Loved by Trance/Hard Trance/Progressive dj’s alike Ladies and Gentlemen is a real slab of Club music and as with everyone of his tunes, play it and watch the dancing commence. Ladies and Gentlemen brings nothing new to The Green Martian’s table, but it does bring another storming epic monster to that famous List. Pure no nonsense Brilliance.
