Part 1 saw a super piece of vinyl including a brilliant dub. This, Part II sees a wide selection of versions on behalf of the Rank 1 boys. Starring Hard Trance, Trance and Ambient mixes. Got to be good, Yes?

Dumonde Remix
The Hard Trance! Oh you beauty. Straight away the song kicks and I mean kicks into gear! Dumonde (Needing no introduction, as with Rank 1) are real remix masters and this is no exception. This a ‘return the favour’ remix for Rank 1’s version of Mind Made up, holds no prisoners. Getting hold of what is already very much an anthem and creating a whole new slant on the song, with even more anthem like qualities.
There’s almost no build up here, Dumonde just get straight into it, dark loops and a booming bass leads to slight rest-bite, where the vocals (Shanokee from Such is Life fame) cut into a straight kick and the bassline. A slight fade out and snare up lead to a thurderous reprise and a wicked new looped sequence. Dumonde slowly adds layers of sequnces for around another minute and a half until they bring the second verse swiftly on over a deep and dark accent line.(The niose supporting the bass line)
The vocal is chorused and delayed sounding very strange.(Too strange maybe) But with that said the symphonic break, taken from the original blends in, then is replaced in almost no time at all by the wonderful chorused and flanged sequence lines every Dumonde fan knows and loves. One huge snare and the track’s away. Running on with the main sequence and the pounding basslines for two minutes and then looping and fading away into those dark drum loops again, then the wind down. It really doesn’t stop for breath causing real havoc with dance floors everywhere at the moment and is without question the best overall mix/remix of this track.
C-Quence Remix (Featured on the links section)
The Trance. C-Quence have been busy bunnies. Doing remixes for some big tracks (Masters & Nickson-Out There 5th Dimension for one) and this is a big track! The remix sticks to the Rank 1 sound and mixes it with a more straight forward modern trance sound.(Eg Shane 54, Cosmicman, Mike Shiver). But un like the A remix, I love what has been done with the vocals here. There are placed on the beats almost from the get go and are crystal clear with nice delay touches. Soft and warm layers are added towards the break.
Here the layers stay, still soft but now the vocals take control, adding an almost sad quality to the song. Appegio versions of the main sequence and a very small mellowed snare leads to the main section. It’s a very trancey production indeed, sounding almost totally balaric, but there is something about this 6 minute remix that leaves you, well unimpressed.
Album Version
The Ambient.(Clever people would have worked out this!) Symsonic the Album version is a true epic! It takes me back to my old synthersizer days, when Jan Hammer and Gio Moroder ruled! The track actually sounds so Vangelis it’s scary. It’s not a dance track at all for me, with the beats being just too slow and spread. But the true epic sound and style of the track could almost pass for Sountrack music. So watch out Hans Zimmer! The symphony style track progresses from simple overture to a real cocophany of sounds blending together until it reaches an all too abrupt end.(I wanted more! Damn) Brilliant set opener! And perfect for home listening!
Conclusion:
I mean what I say when I said Dumonde are on to a winner. Their remix of Symsonic (vocals excluded) is truly awe inspiring, raising your spirts and moving your feet! I still think that the best version is the original album mix, but look here! You get bothAn Awesome record which brings you a super remix on the A, a credible remix (if not great) on the B and one of the best modern day ambient tracks I’ve ever heard.
