To close the 2004 MARS Festival, the Kino International cinema in Berlin will be showing Leiji Matsumoto’s & Daft Punk’s "INTERSTELLA 5555" on 31 March 04.
This will then be followed at Kino International by the finest in house music: 'Play Paul' aka Buffalo Bunch & DJ RICO aka Le Knight Club will be cranking things up to round off the event.
Four musicians from a distant galaxy are kidnapped by a shady manager and, under his wing, become the most famous band in the world.
Brightly coloured pictures open a breakneck journey through European and Japanese pop culture uniting the unmistakable, poppy rhythms of Daft Punk and the design of anime legend Leiji Matsumoto. Without any dialog, 5555 develops into an intergalactic adventure in which visuals merge completely with the music. Although the artists come from completely different directions, they have managed to create the first full-length anime musical with INTERSTELLA 5555.
Interstella 5555 was released on DVD/video and a limited deluxe DVD (film + 2 CDs: Discovery album + a compilation of 11 unreleased remixes previously only available from the exclusive Daft Club) by Labels on 28 November 2003.
