Paul Van Dyk returns to the Broadcast! Paul has had what could undoubtedly have had one of the busiest months ever. He began March in Miami for Winter Music Conference, picking up three Dancestar awards as well as playing at Ultra Dance Festival along with several club venues, was featured on all five nights of The Global DJ Broadcast and is on the "Rock The Vote" tour throughout the US. We have received yet another amazing set from Paul as an encore from the festivities earlier this month.
Signum join the Broadcast for the first time! Signum is the combination of two talented producers in the European music industry. They are Pascal Minnaard and Ronald Hagen. Pascal & Ron first met each other in high school. This was the place were they found out that they had the same interest in making music, and started to do some work together.
During that time, Pascal got a record contract at the Dutch label/agency BPM_Dance. Here he made his first track, under his own name on the label 4-Play (Inside a Rainbow) For his second release, he started working under the name Signum. On BPM's biggest label JINX he released: "Flow of Knowledge", "The other side", "Adapter". Ron also signed up with BPM_Dance and they started producing together again. When they released their first track together, in 1997 on the JINX label, called "What you got for me", the record became a huge club anthem. And with it's re-release in 2001 on TidyTrax it got in the UK Top40
British producer/DJ Scott Mac was interested in working with Signum. Through that collaboration came "Coming On Strong" which also became a huge club hit. This established their name as Trance producers. After that they were frequently asked for a lot of remixes, such as: Lost Tribe- " Game Master", Blank & Jones - "After Love", ATB - " 9pm (Till I come)" , KayCee - " Escape " , Stray dog (Dj Tiesto) - " Mirror ", Alice Deejay & DJ Jurgen - "Better of Alone", Yves de Ruyter - "To the Rhythm" , Spacebrothers - " Shine " and many more.
After finishing all these remixes they started focusing on there own productions. They came back with "Solar Level " and "First Strike", which received support from many leading DJ's/producers including, Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten , Dj Tiesto and John 00 Flemming. This hit was soon followed by, "Cura Me", "Second Wave" & "Third Dimension" , which where all released on Jinx. Their latest remix for "Oceanlab" called "Beautiful Together" is already showing signs of being another massive track.
Signum have also been busy with their DJ career. They have played venues in locations such as Japan, Ibiza, Ireland , Canada, Switzerland, Germany, Mallorca and Malaysia. In July 2001 they made their U.K. debut with a three hour set at Gatecrasher. Since this impressive debut they've played in U.K.'s best clubs such as, "Godskitchen" and "Slinky". As well as the festivals, "Global Gathering", "Homelands" and "Summer Sound System".
Signum's sound of euphoric Trance have won many admirers throughout the world. Signum is becoming one of the most favorite DJ teams in the Trance genre. With loads of plans for the future; a brand new website, new massive productions & extended Dj-sets, you'll be seeing a lot of them and their rise to the top is just beginning !!
Matthew Dekay makes returns to the Broadcast! From an early age it seemed as if Matthew Dekay was destined to be a musician. With both parents with strong backgrounds in music, he was brought up in a house filled with music. Inspired, he quickly took up the Piano and by the age of 12 was writing his own songs daringly exploring the world of analogue snyths and 909 drum computers after hearing the likes of Kraftwerk and Jean Michel Jarre.
This unique sound was picked up by ACE Records in Amsterdam where Matthew quickly established himself as an engineer and producer, enjoying chart success along the way, however the sounds he was creating were not what he wanted to be recognized for. He met with Dutch production veteran, Erick E to set up his own project based on his own taste and awareness. Erick's One Star label became a perfect outlet for Matthew's unique grooves that caught the attention of the likes of Sasha, John Digweed, and Sander Kleinenberg who used "This Category" on his Essential Mix.
Over the last couple of years, Matthew has been prolific in the amount of productions he has completed. He produced the filthy "Lowriders, pt.1"that is featured on a Deep Dish Global Underground offering. The B-side, "Beat Rising" also got heavily cained by the more progressive dj's around the globe. The "Beautiful Monday" EP and the now classic late night anthem; "Passion" has added to his profile with it becoming the staple of Danny Howells' sets for months. This has since led to Sander Kleinenberg commissioning an original track as the first release on his new label. The result "Higher Thoughts" starts where "Passion" left off and is a real contender for the anthem of the summer. Further productions have caught the attention of Pete Tong, John Digweed and Steve Lawler, with the latter keen on "Move Your Body." There is the cheeky bootleg remix of the Beastie Boys "Intergalatic," and work on Mr. G from the Advent, remixes for Little Mountain, and production on South Africa's Capetown Collective.
With the buzz continuing to build, this year has been filled with a sleuth of remixes, and a concentration on completing original productions while juggling an international DJ schedule. He continues to learn his craft at his monthly residency in the legendary Stalker nightclub in Harleem, and continues to appear at showcase Dutch festivals Pinkpop, Lovefields, and Extrema, for who he has mixed the official festival CD. This year will also see the first live appearances from the Matthew Dekay Band, a unique concept, combining the deck skills and programming of Matthew with a full live band, and DJ tours of Asia, South Africa and Eastern Europe already scheduled. Remember where you heard the name first.
