London and the world have gained another awards show. Cynics will surely ask: what yet another award ceremony, more self-admiration and back-patting? Cool, will think the people with empty mantelpieces, because it’s full self-determination at last.
And that is right at least. At the House Music Awards, unlike the Dancestar or similar events, everything is left to the masses from the nominations to the final selection. Until 30 June, you can suggest your favourites for the individual awards categories and decide who you, for example, want to nominate as Best Label, Artist Of The Year, DJ Of The Year, Best Club Night and also Best Innovative Producer.
You can do this all at www.housemusicawards.com. On 15 July, the nominees (of course, using the majority rule) will be officially announced. Until 6 August, you can then vote for the finalists and, in September, the awards will finally be presented at a big ceremony in London
