The ASOT releases are coming in thick and fast at the moment. The latest, number 17 on this mega trance label, is Envio's 'Time to Say Goodbye'...
Ashkan Fardost, aka Envio, appears again with both his second track and second release on A State Of Trance. It follows much in the same vein as his previous release, 'Touched By The Sun', and there is a remix by Passiva on the flip.
:: Envio - Time To Say Goodbye :: A State Of Trance :: ASOT017
A: Original Mix The Original Mix begins with a gentle layer of ambience and a moderate kick beating steadily along. A light layer of percussion and a soft, rhythmic bassline are soon added and the track quickly gains a good presence. The track slowly builds, adding a calming synthline playing some easy chords in the background and some more percussive elements. The lead instrument is the next addition - its the familiar electric guitar from 'Touched By The Sun'. It has a wonderful sound - so chilled and melodic. It plays a few laid back notes and the track begins to break down slowly until its just the guitar and some ambient synth. Here, the guitar develops the melody and begins to play through it in its entirety. It gains some crispness as a padding layer of synth is introduced, paving the way for the track to drop back in and finally treat us to the full on sound of this track. The synths and guitar continue to work their magic for a few more minutes after which the track begins its long wind down, easing off the guitar and then the synths until we are left with some ambience and percussion to close on.
B: Passiva Remix The Passiva Remix begins with a slightly punchier kick, some swirling sfx and a very light dusting of hi-hats. A gently bubbling bassline is introduced along with some very gentle backing synths. Next comes a long breakdown which consists of some dreamy melodic ambience which is used to support the electric guitar as it plays a few notes from the main melody. A long kick roll brings in the main body of the track and instead of focussing on the guitar, a different chord driven melody is played by a stabbing but gentle trance synth. The guitar does feature, somewhat quietly, for a short section before the track begins its long wind down.
Conclusion:
'Time To Say Goodbye' is another solid piece of chilled and melodic trance by Envio, deserving of its place on the A State Of Trance record label. The Original is superbly melodic and relaxing, while the Passiva Remix takes on a more progressive approach. Very pleasing to listen to indeed.
