A couple of days ago Orbital announced their intention to split after the forthcoming album, Blue, and a live swan song at Glastonbury 2004.
Orbital, consisting of brothers Phil and Paul Hartnoll, have been pioneers of UK Acid House music for about 15 years.
Since the 1990 release of four-track masterpiece "Chime" - which was produced for the princely sum of £2.50 and saw Orbital take Acid House from the clubs to Top of the Pops - the brothers have continued to innovate in electronic music.
The split was announced at their website: "I think we feel that Orbital has run its course. We've been pursuing different avenues with our music," Paul wrote.
"It's nice to know that we're finishing, it's not many bands that do that. They tend to just fade away. And it's nice to have our last gig at Glastonbury," he went on.
We've been sat, as brothers, in the same room for 15 years now - and the studios are always confined spaces - I think it's time for a change," Paul said of the split.
Orbital were one of the first dance acts to successfully graduate to the live arena and their Glastonbury sets have become the stuff of legend.
Talking about their final appearance at this year's festival, Paul said: "It's gonna be a party set, a best of Orbital.
"We're not gonna sit there and try and promote the new album. I think if we're gonna do a last gig we should do a distilled set of all the best stuff we've done."
It's sad to hear they will split up, but hopefully Orbitals last album will be one to remember!
