Difuse is back with a new release called 'Transmission', with mixes by the famous G&M Project duo and harddance maestro JK Walker.. Read on to find out if this can measure with their earlier releases!
'Cloud Nine' is one of the aliases of two gentlemen called G. West and Alf Bamford. Mr. Bamford has already had a few releases on Nukleuz, Mohawk and Execute Recordings. There is no original mix on this slice of vinyl, but there are two very promising remixes, looking at the names...
A-side: G&M Project Remix As most of us know, G&M Project is an alias for Robert Gitelman and Yaron Martinez. They have had two single releases on ID&T Records, called 'Control Of Your Mind' and 'Sunday Afternoon', and have done numerous succesful remixes for labels like Data and ID&T. Other aliases they use are Jaron Inc., Robert Gitelman and 2 Players. The mix itself starts off rather banging with a stomping kick and some filtered hi-hats coming in. The BPM is a bit higher than we would expect for a G&M Project Remix, but it's not bad at all because it creates a nice drive during the build-up. A few fast-paced, deep basslines get added to bring the build-up in an even more energetic atmosphere, being accompanied by a crispy synthline which is playing a fast, repeating melody along with the other elements. More and more pads and synths get added, and when the bassline starts bringing its chords up and down, we can hear a break will be entering soon. The repeating synthline continues, backed by a male vocal saying 'Save The World', and is being accompanied by a whooshing sound that builds up a bit of tension. A muted kick enters the track, but is soon being transformed to its bigger brother to keep the track on rolling a bit further. This goes on for just a little while, until another short break appears, in which the synthline we heard before starts changing notes to instantly become a whole new melody. This is all done in a very original way, you wouldn't even notice it when not listening intensively! A snare-roll comes in, flees, and comes back in after a split second to release the full climax. The stomping percussion does its work very well here, and it gives the track a very energetic ambiance combined with the continously changing melody. When the climatic part ends, the build-off starts, enabling the DJ to mix in the next track.
B-side: JK Walker Remix JK Walker is known for his collabs with artists like Marcos, and his numerous remixes for reknown British harddance labels. His interpretation commences with a sharp-edged kick and a few filtered hi-hats coming in (hey, haven't we heard this in the other mix as well?). The hi-hats fade away again, making place for a low-volumed bassline which serves as a lead-in for a mini-break with a small male vocal in it and a big snareroll. This is where the full kick and bassdrum bounce in: the sharp kick gets accompanied by a darkish, smooth bassline, which creates an overall rather spooky feeling throughout the build-up. Filtered vocals are hearable on the background, backed by a repeating, a bit of woody sounding sample which leads us right into the break. Dark pads, a high-pitched synthline and a few thin strings are combined here. The synthline is playing the main melody; a set of fast-changing chords, driven by a few nice background FX. The synth gets replaced by a more or less louder, and more energetic one, which rocket-launches us right into the climax. The kick and bassline return in a vigorous way, destroying everything in its way. This is not a track to listen to at home; this is the kind of stuff that would fit perfectly in a superbly hard DJ-set, ready to blast off any roofs available. The climax itself is rather minimal, but it does have this energy-packed flavour coming with it, which makes it very enjoyable nonetheless.
Conclusion:
Difuse has brought us another very exciting release; the G&M Project Remix is not what you would expect from the guys, but is certainly very original and stomping, perfect food for the dancefloor. The same goes for the the JK Walker Remix; an energy-packed, banging remix which will certainly get the crowds going. Don't miss this when you're a fan of a bit of harder trance!
