The Winter Music Sampler from Incentive is a pitch up of the latest remixes over 2 separate vinyls. i:Vibes has gotten hold of the 1st vinyl with 2 of the hottest tracks of yesteryear.
Matt Darey's classic "Beautiful" is featured on the a-side, with a stonking remix from Pulser, of "Cloudwalking" fame and also the remixers of Goldenscan's "Sunrise", as well as DJ Hitchhiker's "Cabal". The remix removes some of the more floaty elements of the original euphoric "Beautiful" and adds a tougher bassline to it.
The massive break is still there halfway into the track and to me, completes the track very well. Pulser have not had a disappointing production ever, and they weren't about to start here.
On the B-side, the Kuba Remix of "Falling" (although labeled on the vinyl as "Remember Me", the track is actually "Falling") can be easily overlooked as Phreaq have not been on the mainstream circuit with their 2 productions in the past.
"Falling" which came out on IDJ early in 2000 with a thumping Adam Dived Mix, gets the treatment from Kuba. I have no news as to the background of this artist, but the remix in my opinion outshines that of Beautiful. A glorious journey through trance is delivered here, with haunting vocals to die for.
I can't stop playing this B-side, and for those of you who have yet to hear it, I would highly recommend the Kuba Mix.
This release is on a strictly limited pressing on Incentive Records, but looks to be released on a retail schedule sometime in March.
