We're seeing a small flurry of activity from RR at the moment. Fresh up and almost ready for release is 'Turbulence', by Nenes. This one has already managed to hit it off big time with names such as Ferry Corsten, Eddie Halliwell, Blank & Jones, Cosmic Gate and Graham Gold...
Nenes, an Amsterdam based production project, is fuelled by the creative talent of E. Hartendorf & D. Siliakus - with Mr. Siliakus being the one and only E-Craig! 'Turbulence' is presented in two forms - the tough harder edged trance sound of the Original Mix and the more tribal-tech sound of the Tribal Tech Mix (no surprise there!) on the flip. This one will be released on the 17th May, on RR Records.
:: Nenes - Turbulence :: RR :: RR022
1) Original Mix The Original Mix begins strongly with a very, very solid beat, backed immediately by a good, gruff sounding off beat bass. A breakdown comes around quite quickly and this little interlude is used to introduced the main synth and its melody. The synth itself has a big trance sound, full of un-wavering strength with a lot of sustain and reverb. The track becomes a real driving force when the synth plays its hefty melodic hook - you're presented with a really good hard trance sound. Nearer to the tracks end, there is a longer break where everything is cut out and there is complete silence for a very brief moment. Now, the track builds itself back up gradually, mainly using the synth to do so, before jumping back into one final minute of fierceness!
2) Tribal Tech Mix The Tribal Tech Mix begins with a firm beat, backed by a percussion which is similar to that used in the Original Mix of Randy Katana's 'One Solid Wave'. It also shares features from its own Original Mix - the initial breakdown used to introduce the synth, which has the same strength and powerful sound as it did in the Original Mix. The finishing touch is a very subtle bassline which adds a nice 'groove' to the track. The bass is very very subtle and hard to make out, yet you know its there and it really works well for the track. Again, like in the Original Mix, there is a long quiet break near to the end, which is countered by a synth build and an eruption back into the final main section of this strong sounding track.
Conclusion:
'Turbulence' is a fine track! The two mixes that we are given adhere to the same vein yet have their own unique qualities to suit different occasions. The Original Mix has a super-solid beat backed by the powerful synth, delivering some really nice hard trance while the Tribal Tech Mix utilises a more chunky feeling beat, the same big synth but a grooving bassline to funk things up a little. Excellent stuff!
