Norway's version of the loverparade has been cancelled this year, But Why?
Sommerparade is technically Norway's version of the Loveparade but we have some bad news to pass along. Apparently they have cancelled this year's festival, which would have been attended by about 50,000 people. They cite the lack of government funds, the increased cost of paying police and other costs have gone up significantly. They did not make a profit last year and since the costs have gone up, it did not make financial sense to put it on this year. It still leaves a lot of disappointed people but it is an economic reality in today's world. It still comes as a shock to most people and it seems it is one of many festivals that are being cancelled due to the lack of funds. Let's hope that these festivals can find corporate sponsors to carry on these festivals in the years to come
