© ID&TINNERCITY is the annual event held in Amsterdam RAI with a massive crowd of 60,000. This is the biggest event organised by ID&T and hosts some amazing talent.

INNERCITY 2001 - 29th December @ Amsterdam RAI

Me my mate Phil and TOM set sail to Holland from the UK on a 7hr ferry Early Friday morning. On arrival we drove over to Amsterdam as were stopping at the Ibis Hotel situated in close proximity to the airport arriving at aproximately 7pm ish... Was a long journey but we soon chilled in the hotel bar with a few beers.

On Sat (The night of the event) we got a train into Amsterdam Centre and met up with a couple more people who that day had lown in from Italy. Yea its a pretty popular event and people come in from all over the world to check it out. After a good meal we went on the Metro to RAI.

On arrival at RAI there was a constant flow of people heading towards the main building. We could hear the bass from one of the arena's as we walked past outside knowing we would soon be in there with our hearts pumping blood round our bodies faster and faster as we express ourselves to the awesome music.

At first I couldn't beieve how big RAI was and once entering it outwayed my expectations by far more than you could imagine. On entering... after handing in our gear to the well organised Cloakroom, we had a quick walk round everywhere... We quickly went past the Garage Arena ( Garage sucks big time) and went to check out the Techno Arena, I think T-Quest was on at the time.. It was really nicely set out, the arena was a big huge square which had screens in each corner showing all funky animations and stuff to the music. The sound here was amazing. No matter where u were in the arena it came at you full blast.

Then we went over to the Main Arena. X-Press 2 were on at the time... was very interesting stuff. X-Press2 are three guys on two dex each if u didn't know. The main arena was by far the biggest. I personally stayed in there for the full two hours of Marco V's set. He was the main reason why I myself went to the event. It was amazing... For the first hour or so I was somewhere 3/4 from the front.. it was pretty cool.. His set started off with simulated which was pretty good alltho I was expecting God myself. For the second hour of his set I was right at the front, I could see the whites of his eyes as he was spinning the music that we all love soo much I was that close, lol. It was a really good set but sadly there was some sort of cockup, NOT MARCO's FAULT might I add. All of a sudden the sound cut out.. Something obviously went wrong somewhere, AMP blew, someone tripped over a wire.. who knows.. But it Happened 3 times!!!! MArco was really pissed off onn the 3rd time... and i don't blame him... he's got the prime set there at this huge event and it cut outs , and to make it worse it happened while he was playing GOD his awsome newish track which was also the theme to the event. Even tho this happened he still performed... There were some new tunes I had never even heard before and some of the hard trance that he has spun before that we all love so much.

Anyway... after that set me and my mate phil went out to the 'Chill out' area... There was this huge block of ice on this like stand which was under like a hmmm... hard to explain... you could go up to it, sit on it. It was a realyl good idea and seemed very popular. Around the block of ice were these spray jets with water to helpcool you down.. it was really cool....

Then we ventured into the Deephouse section for a while and then back into the techno and then after that back to the main arena for Svens Set. This was the biggest event I have ever been to. Here inthe Uk there is never anything of this size. Innercity was very well planned. Lots of thought went into the layout and setup of everyting which all helped us to enjoy the night as much as possible and i'll probably be there again next year. If you didn't come. Then you missed out big time. This was definately the biggest party I have ever been too and my first trip to an event out of the UK. Hopefully I'll be making my way to other events such as Trance Energy and Sensation.

Hope to see you there.

Here are a few pics just to give you an idea of what you missed :p

Innercity Entrance
This is the entrance and also the CloakRoom. Very big as you can see!

Innercity Passageway
There were tunnels and passage ways to each arena which weren't too busy surprisingly

Sygnus at Innercity
I had to include a pic of myself and some friends (Sygnus = 2nd from left)

Innercity Lasers
There were static lasers shining down from fixtures which were pretty cool

Innercity Eyes
To the right of the Main arena were this huge eyes all lit up

Innercity Lighting Stage
A little further along was the Lighting Stage, these guys controlled all the lasers and lighting effects etc and they did an excellent job at it too

Innercity lasers
When the lights were dimmed and lasers on they look amazing, its really hard to catch on camera how effective they really are

Innercity crowd
There must have been at least 20,000 people in just the main arena at any one time

Innercity crowd
The atmosphere in there was out of this world. Everyone was going crazy! Amazing.

Marco V at Innercity
This was Marco V at the head of the Main stage. There were TV's showing him doing his stuff at the front too as you can see, with lasers coming out from behind.

Innercity picture of the bar
This was the bar at the back of the main stage

Innercity chillout area
This was the chillout area where there was the block of ice and a few stalls selling glow sticks etc

Innercity ICE
The big block of ice i was talking about earlier. Ahh.. sooo refreshing as I rememebr :)

Innercity End
It was all too good to last forever and had to end eventually.
