Fresh from the success of his last outing on Reset Records, Randy Katana has produced another monster for the summer which is receiving praise from the best out there...
'Silence' first hit the floors a good few years ago now, but is back again after being re-vamped by its creator. Randy Katana brings us 'In-Silence' and its being cained by a whole host of big names - Tiesto, Paul van Dyk, Armin van Buuren, Judge Jules, Marco V, Eddie Haliwell, Johan Gielen and Above & Beyond are all giving this tune the thumbs up already.
'In-Silence' comes in two flavours - the Txittxarro Mix (Txittxarro being one of Spain's biggest clubs) and the Scratch Bandicoot Remix, with the Scratch Bandicoot being Paul Moelands from Octagen / Re-Locate fame. 'In-Silence' is out on the 14th of June.
:: Randy Katana - In-Silence :: Reset Records Promo :: RS005
A) Txittxarro Mix The most played mix of the two begins with a massively pounding beat laced nicely with percussion. A synth creeps in from the background to introduce a short breakdown. Here, a powerful driving bassline comes in, followed shortly by the re-addition of the beat. The bass really drives this track - its deep, dark and very strong. You basically have a percussive build up for a short while, until a little break introduces a sustained synth which plays long sustained chords over the thumping beat. The breakdown which ensues is very long, fading out the beat slowly and focussing on the synth chords. A new melody begins to make itself heard and continues to play over a very long snare build up. Just when you can't stand the pressure any longer, the track dives straight back in with the powerful bass and pounding kick. This track is all about build up and then hitting and staying on a plateau based on a strong and driving force. Before the track begins to end, we're treated to a short section focussing on the percussion, which adds a nice bit of variety before the track beats its way to a close.
AA) Scratch Bandicoot Remix This remix takes a more traditional approach. It starts with a medium strength kick and light standard percussion. The bass is lighter and springier with a distinct 4Strings flavour to it. The breakdown in this remix is quite long too. Again it is used to bring in a melody which this time is more developed and, well, melodic. Some people may view it as slightly cheesey sounding, but I think it manages to just avoid that in the way it is conveyed. On the plus side, this does mean it has a nice summery feel to it. You get a good dosage of the main melody which is nice for a change - many tracks these days don't give you enough of what makes them stand out and sound good. A short breather section follows, preparing you for the tracks closure.
Conclusion:
Randy Katana does it again - the Txittxarro Mix of 'In-Silence' is sure to be blowing peoples dancing socks off this summer with its strong, driving and powerful sound. The Scratch Bandicoot Remix does well, taking a traditional approach and delivering a slightly retro feel. All we need now is for Sam Sharp to do a remix like he did with 'One Solid Wave' and then there'll be no stopping this monster!
