After his numerous success and also being played by pretty much every trance idol on the planet, Paul Moelands is back with another stormer under his Re:Locate guise, to serve Galactive Sounds in the root of Fundamental Recordings. It's not easy to return with another big hit, but let's see if Moelands was able to complish this mission.
Record of the week / Future favorite on Armin's show. The A side which is aptly titled Typhoon (renamed from Hurricane, due to Mike Shivers' new release) gives us a little perspective of what to expect. A tight kick and floaty hats are followed by a filtered percussive section, and an acute bassline which soon goes into high temper as it keeps driving the lead pads giving it a tepid atmosphere. Hammered by a halted clap, it gets calmer, swifts with more layers as the buildup melody is coming, which slightly creeps in the background. Breakdown: the moment we all waited for, the main melody is introduced with kick, the typhoon is coming, it's growing and growing, twists our minds, oh it's not over yet! Lift into another breakdown, the main melody gets even wilder, the cutoff is getting into insanity, strong roller coasting uplifting gives the best treatment, oh wait this is not over we have massive break beats here in the background - Trance at it's best. 10/10 The B side is called Fortitude, and Re:Locate's flip sides are more calm and emotional so far. Fortitude starts with a twist percussive section together with a deep sharp bassline. This releases and the track introduces us with melodic sounds and more layers in the background, followed by a driving bassline. From one to another the many mellow tones give it a jolly character. Breakdown smashed with individual break beats, very realxing and harmonical. Strings in the main theme combined perfectly in this meritorious groove. 8/10
Conclusion:
Paul Moelands stands by his Re:Locate guise with an astonishing record, he hasn't disappointed me yet! Re:Locate integrates his own unique style here, and I can't see it being a failure in the future. Very nice to see the A and B sides aren't equal; each has its own unique sounding mixture. Yet once more Fundamental keeps spoiling us with sweets.
