The second release on the new starting label Asgard will consist of two pieces of hard trance called 'Romantic Cosmos' and 'Voyage' by producer Prestige. Read on to find out
A name like Prestige sounds like it implies some power and authority. Unsurprisingly then, Prestige is none other than Twilight aka Escade aka Ralph Novell - all strong trance/hard trance aliases from producer Ralph Wegner. On the new and upcoming piece of vinyl, there will be two tracks - 'Romantic Cosmos' and 'Voyage'...
:: Prestige - Romantic Cosmos / Voyage :: Asgard Records :: ASGARD002
1) Romantic Cosmos 'Romantic Cosmos' begins with a tough sounding kick, complemented with some light percussion, ambient synths and sfx and also a deep droning bass in the background. This is soon built upon with a more active bassline which taps out a lively rhythm. One quick snare roll later and the track takes a good grip as the little bassline gains a lot more strength and drives the track onward. The first third of this track is basically a long progressing build up, with backing synths and sfx gaining prominence, along with some more bassy sounds hidden in the depths of the track. In a short wave of ambience, the breakdown gives birth to an emerging melody, played by one of those big and powerful trance synths which command the best hard trance tracks out there. The melody itself, power aside, is uplifting and very good on the ears - rest assured there will be no shortage of dancing when this track is placed on the tables. As with lots of Ralphs productions, you are treated to a big dose of the main section of the track - uninterrupted by breaks its just hard trance power all the way!
2) Voyage 'Voyage' begins with some soft booming bass samples and a rather different sounding kick to begin with - a chunky and gritty percussive beat. A bigger kick with more solidarity soon takes over and some coarse and hollow bass move things forward with the help of some whispered female vocals. The track continues to progress as stronger, more rounded bass is introduced along with a thick mass of synths filling the background very well. A piano can be heard, echoing in the midst of the track, playing out a distant melody - so nice and dreamy. The melody is developed and continues to play, backed perfectly by a chord progression of synth and bass. The breakdown is full of lush, thick pads which give way to a trance synth with a sharper edge instead of the piano - fantastic contrast here - softness into something more powerful without losing the sense of feeling and melody. This great build up leads to a brilliant explosion where we can absorb more of the melody. Nothing groundbreaking, just great trance through and though! And as a warm down, you're also treated to the lovely piano playing a melody outro as the track moves towards its end.
Conclusion:
Here are two solid pieces of hard trance. Both possess strong progressive building sections that are excellently put together, they have great melodies plus some added power to really top things off well.
