Sandler has stepped in again to perform some of his remix magic, this time the subject is 'Live 4 Music' by DJ Shog...

Sandler continues on his remix tour and the latest rework comes from the euro dance track 'Live 4 Music' by DJ Shog which was released back in March. Sandler has treated us to some good remixes as of late, so hopefully these new ones won't disappoint. Plus, as a bonus, this one comes pressed onto a nice looking deep blue slice of vinyl.

 A: Sandler Dub Mix
The dub mix begins softly with some lightly tapping percussion and a quiet gurgle of bass in the background. The bass is upped in strength into a nice rolling, driving sound just as a fat kick is introduced. The track progresses with some spooky synth sounds echoing back and forth, subtly backed by a quiet murmur of sfx every now and again. The fairly long breakdown starts with near silence and continues with some soft and smooth female "Aahs" which merge into synths and then into a rather sfx based section. Its all very ambient but there is a constant sense of build up lurking in the background. The slow build leads up to the introduction of the main hook which is played by a coarse and deep synth. The hook itself is a stabbing rhythm, which when coupled with the now harder beat and driving bass, create a powerful sound to fuel the dancefloor. From here, the track essentially repeats, as the hook is dropped and you begin on the progression towards the ambient breakdown and ultimately the driving force of the powerful main hook. Strong, driving, spooky. A well performed combination indeed!

 AA: Sandler Remix
The Sandler Remix begins very much the same as the Dub Mix, with the onset of a fat sounding kick and some good rolling bass to drive everything along. The spooky synths and sfx also makes regular appearances. The main differences become apparent in half way through the breakdown, as instead of the strong stabbing synth played rhythm, a spacier sounding synth plays a slow paced and lethargic sounding melody. It sort of sits ontop of the active beat and bassline, laying a converse air of calm, countering the other main elements in a way. The melody doesn't play along with a chord progression or anything like that, its literally placed gently on the track and has an interesting effect. Because of all this, it turns out that this is a mix that can be used to pace a crowd and get them quietly grooving as opposed to the strong force effects of the Dub Mix.

Conclusion:Sandler has demonstrated once again his remixing talents. 'Live 4 Music' has undergone a total transformation here, from euro dance to some quality hard and techy trance in the Sandler Dub Mix and to some more easy going feelings in the Sandler Remix. Very good.
