Sam Sharp is has another new tune ready for us on the stomping Reset Records label. Sam Sharp hasn't yet failed to deliver, so will 'Deep' prove otherwise...?
Sam Sharp has a fantastic list of remixes to his name - Tatana's 'Soul Cry', Blank & Jones' 'Stars Shine Bright' and his blindingly awesome remix of Katana's 'One Solid Wave'. To this, hes added another great solo production, 'Twister', demonstrating more of his strong, dark and powerful style. This time, Sam Sharp makes a solo appearance on the Reset Records label with two flavours of this latest production - 'Deep' and 'In-Deep'.
:: Sam Sharp - Deep / In-Deep :: Reset Records :: RS003
A: Deep 'Deep' begins with a punchy kick, embedded in a constant rolling bass. A percussive element is faded in from the background to counter the prominent bass. More percussion comes in and this initial section culminates with a reversed, echoed beat. Next, after a vocal 'hit' has established itself, you get the first taste of Sam Sharps quality synths which stab a few quick and well placed notes and just let the track continue. The ensuing breakdown consists initially of some electronic sounding instruments playing a few notes back and forth to each other. In the background, there is a growing synth murmur, which swells into an massive smooth wave and pulls in a fierce stabbing synth melody in Sam Sharps distinctive style. This continues and is joined by the electronic instruments and the vocal hit. The track quietens, then begins to head for a final breakdown, where the stabbing synth makes a comeback for one last attack. Very strong stuff, although the synth sounds a little flat if you concentrate too much on it.
AA: In-Deep 'In-Deep' begins with a ferocious kick backed by some really nice, gritty sounding bass. Some percussion and a very prominent snare hit every 2 beats are faded in quickly. The initial section ends with a similar reversed beat as 'Deep' did, but this time is filtered out and back in, amplifying the effect by a great amount, making it so much more effective. A small break and another filtered break bring in a bizarre synth which is heavily phased in with the original stabbing synth. This adds an interesting streak of sound through this track. The breakdown features eerie ghostly sounds which beckon the brutal lead synth from the depths and let it explode with filtered force into a stabbed rhythmic build up. Now the moment you've been poised waiting for - finally the lead synth breaks out and pushes home the strong, rhythmic, stabbed melody with small filtered breaks in between which really add to the feeling of force and power. Exhilarating stuff!
Conclusion:
Sam Sharp hits another home run here with this release! While you may find 'Deep' a little flat, 'In-Deep' is superb, filled with all the power and force you'd expect from a track created in Sam Sharps awesome style.
