UK label Silver Planet recently launched the side project Secret Planet, a label through which they could highlight outstanding unknown and underrated artists. Chris Salt, first packaged in Secret Planet's initial 12 track CD compilation release, was adjudged to deserve further investment and has since inked a record deal with the label. Here we take a listen to the third vinyl released on this new progressive imprint.
Nick Warren was recently quoted saying that Chris Salt is "one of THE producers of the year". A compliment from a Dj of Warren's stature ensures the listener that there is something special going on here, and it seems that Silver Planet have found a fine young talent in the form of the 23 year old Cambridge graduate.

Undertow:
The track commences with a lone, muted dash of synth, with a rolling bassline that moves the track along nicely. A warping, spacy pad compliments the muted dashes of synth that help to give the track a wonderful atmospheric feel. The drums soon enter as the track continues its progressive journey until it peaks, with the whole melody keying up a notch as some piano hits are introduced. The overall effect makes for a great progressive vibe and an outstanding track that would work well opening a mix set.
Conclusion:
A fine release from an outstanding progressive producer who looks to have a promising production career on his hands. Definitely worth picking up for its subtle elegance and dark overtones.
