Echano is the project of Martyn Bone, well known on Tranceaddict as a great young producer. His first release 'Nothing to live for' is a beauty and includes a remix from Gareth Emery!
Nothing to Live For (Original)
Having known the original track for a long time, being produced by Martyn ‘Mart’ Bone from tranceaddict.com forums huge range of talented producers which also includes names like Haak, Robert Nickson & Tech producer Santiago Nino, I am only too aware of the quality in this production. A very deep melodic piece, maybe something similar to the sound you find on the J00F label, we slowly build up, offering new elements from time to time, but everything is mastered to perfection, to the point where you cannot noticeably here anything coming in or going out. Originality is also a key here, as the track takes 4 minutes to build up, and isn’t all over like some are by this time, as a deep pad joins us, and a gorgeous glassy lead delicately graces on top of it. With a piano softly resting on top of this afterwards, slowly playing a beautiful melody you are reminded of a track that would not seem out of place on the old ISOS series of wonderful summer tracks. Building intensity always, the track really stands out well and is a welcome change from some of the newer productions today that lack originality or try to bask in past glories. I wouldn’t say that Mart has nothing to live for, as if he can continue to produce trance this gracefully, the name Echano should be well known by you all before too long – 10/10
Nothing to Live For (Gareth Emery Remix)
Gaz brings us his interpretation which starts a lot more upbeat than the original, with the kick and bassline very prominent and the melody soon appears in its first incarnation. Trying hard all the way, the sounds are very nice, but I can’t help but feel that it isn’t as well produced as the original already. A gated pad moves us along towards the time when the main melody comes in, which is very nicely done, but again doesn’t capture the raw passion of the original version, and does not go on for as long before a very long outro. Whilst the production is solid on it’s own and technically competent, compared to the remix it doesn’t come close – 6/10
Conclusion:
The original track is beautiful, and has raw passion rarely shown nowadays, showing that the name Echano will be household before too long if Mart can bring out tracks like this. The remix is an ok track, but doesn't carry the quality to beat the original.
