Infusion are still on their Summer 2004 Tour, with the new album on the way, they played Labour of Love 3 on September 5th.2004. Did the show meet expectations?
The Australian based Trio known as Infusion have been very busy of late, their new album called "Six Feet Above Yesterday", is available in Canada now, and in Australia at the end of the month and everywhere else shortly. You can buy it on Amazon.ca HERE. They are still on the Summer 2004 Tour, which stopped in Toronto on the weekend at the Annual Labour of Love festival, which included Nu-Nrg, Ferry Corsten, DJ Icey, Sander Kleinenberg, Deep Dish and Nic Fanculli among others in the Guvernment/Koolhaus rooms. This writer sadly could not make the LOL3 event but a friend of Andy P's went and reported on the Infusion act, which he liked more than any other of the acts he saw.
The following was written by Goodn3t aka Sean Infusion - Live @ Koolhaus (Monday Morning September 6th 3am)
Live PA acts are a special breed of electronic music performances. Often many would think of a Live PA involving a couple guys pressing a few keys and twiddling knobs in some arbitrary manor – and not usually in the most exciting way. As I learned in the Kool Haus on September 5th, Infusion is a group that totally breaks that perception.
Infusion uses a live instrument not commonly used in electronic Live PAs– the human vocalist. Their combination of tweaking knobs and sliders while dashing their tracks with many live vocal effects and lyrics worked to great effect with the audience. It added a live touch that just cannot be matched with sampled vocals. The vocals came hand-in-hand with the music; where the two other group members really got into their performance to perfect the live music.
When the Infusion boys were about to drop a huge track, they made a statement out of doing so. The vocalist would yell through the microphone telling of the next track to be played from their latest album, while at the same time creeping in a few samples of the track. Infusion fans everywhere could train spot the track coming on as the bassline kicked in. A few short moments later, the lyrics to their song “Legacy” would get sung out, resulting in the crowd going into a mad frenzy. This got repeated as they later played a live remix of Girls Can Be Cruel, and an encore which they only described as “If you don’t like it – you can have your money back!”. Needless to say they tore the roof off the Kool Haus and everyone got their moneys worth.
All in all, Infusion’s live act is not your typical live PA. It is energetic, and you really get a sense of their music being played live. Their tunes are not cookie-cutter style either. You would get everything from progressive house to breaks, and they never get boring. At the end of their show they took the time to sign autographs, shake hands, and chat for a bit to answer questions. I shook all their hands and told them “Fuckin’ amazing show!” because I was tired as hell, and they seemed to like the positive comments none the less.
Again mad props to Sean for remembering enough to be able to write a review, even though Andy P could not make it.
