Theres another new release on the horizon for German hard trance label Waterworld. The track is by Earth Inc., is called 'Realize' and carries a fairly topical message along with it...
Earth Inc.'s first production is geared towards the more common hard trance style - well known territory for a label like Waterworld indeed. 'Realize' will come in two forms - the Original Vocal Mix and as an Original Instrumental.
:: Earth Inc. - Realize :: Waterworld :: WWR019
1) Realize (Original Vocal Mix) A percussive intro leads onto the main foundations of this track - a coarse and driving offbeat bassline reminiscent of something very Alphazone or Cosmic Gate in style, backed up with a punchy kick. The initial section of the track sees a lot of synth activity, rather much like boiling water - slowly building and simmering, totally letting you know its heading for a climax. There are various synths all mixed together. This is nice because there is a lot to listen to instead of just waiting for a formulaic track to proceed step by step. The breakdown is, at first, a quiet affair with whispered vocals of "Realize" and quiet synth sounds to avoid total silence. We get a taste of the lead synth next. It plays a nice and catchy hook and is itself strong and powerful with lots of treble, making it seem to spread and fill lots of empty space with sound. Another quiet period sees the spoken verse, from which the track takes it name, take place. Its basically a small message encouraging world peace and unity spoken by a male voice. Male vocals in trance has recently been a fairly hot and controversial topic. Vocals sections, let alone spoken ones, are also pretty heavily discussed due to various reasons ('cheese' being the main one). So this track is being quite bold, brave and ambitious on several fronts. Anyway, after the vocal section, the synth gains momentum again and in true Waterworld style (well, come on, what did you expect?) the massive synth takes the reigns and powers out its hook for the rest of the track. No massive provocation of emotion or anything, just high energy hard trance to keep the dancefloor alive.
2) Realize (Original Instrumental) The Instrumental of 'Realize' is just what it says on the tin. Its the same track but without the spoken vocal section (the small whispers of "Realize" from time to time still remain and to good effect). Its a very good decision to have an instrumental track because it is guaranteed that the vocals will not suit everybody's tastes - whether they don't like male vocals, don't like vocals at all, or don't like corny messages in their trance or whatever. Myself, the vocals don't really do much for me (as with a good percentage of vocals in any trance music) so my mix of choice would be the instrumental.
Conclusion:
As far as big, hard trance goes, 'Realize' does well. If the vocals put you off then the Instrumental is worth a look though. There is also the possibility of a remix vinyl on the horizon, so that should at least be worth keeping an eye out for.
