Another alias from Swedish Producer Jezper Söderlund, One Man Army has been highly sought after and is finally out courtesy of our friends at J00F recordings! How does it fare ? Read on...
The Anthem
Starting out with a lovely soft string, with a great ambience, a nice bouncy bassline joins us, and soon after is joined by the percussions and a kickdrum. A clap very much like an Old Ferry Corsten one is used also and some fx are utilised in places to help move things along. Already 2 minutes in, a faint piano sound is used, gently caressing the bassline. At the 3 minutes mark, the summer ambience is back, with the piano melody of 4 notes repeating over it. A string comes over the top and is soon on it’s own, progressing the chords further, and good fx is over the top of this. Carrying on for a long time, this is a beautiful part of the track, and is later on joined by the piano and bassline again, with some percussions programmed over the top leading to the kick. Towards 6:30 you are joined by another soft string-like sound just helping to move things on without keeping repetitiveness. The final minute or so is the outro and ends an blissful 9 minutes of trance, very impressive 9/10
Ballroom Dancer
Flipping the vinyl over we have Ballroom Dancer which starts off with the bassline and kick together, and has some programmed percussion over the top of it helping to build up. The kick is slightly tougher than in the first track, Acidic riffs start to come in to build up, with a second synth playing a melody not far behind this and an ambient pad, playing softly, almost whistling in the background. Gated sounds follow and maintain the build nicely onwards and upwards and already we’re 3 minutes in. The gating gets higher and higher on the EQ scale until it fades out. Some fx lead us into another piano riff, which is much more intricate than in the first track, yet whilst that is very effective in a summery track, this also works in a more epic track here. The bassline and kick follow soon and go on for a while until the piano comes back, in turn followed by the gated sound. Very good indeed, equally as impressive as the first track, in a different way.
Conclusion:
Both tracks are equally impressive as all J00F releases seem to be, and are definitely some of the finer works from Jezper. Check it out in stores from 27th Sept!
