TCR is releasing another record and this time, they use the new group called Roxiller. Why has Rennie Pilgrem kept hammering this for months? Does he know something that we don't?

Roxiller – The Exorcist (TCR) (RENN3089)

Chris Carter is a well known break beat name, he has established himself over the last few years with some huge break beat records as well as getting his deejay career going, which has gone well. He teams up with JHz aka James Cocozza, who was discovered by Chris Carter and BLIM aka Gervase Cooke; Cocozza then got his start on Botchit Breaks in 2002. Carter and Cocozza then teamed up and together they are Roxiller. Rennie Pilgrem has been hammering this for months on CDR and anything that Rennie Pilgrem truly likes that is unsigned, usually gets a release on TCR.

Roxiller – The Exorcist (TCR) (RENN3089)

1.The Exorcist
2.The Fear

1.The Exorcist

Immediately, you get the impression from the wailing guitar riffs in the background that quickly move to the front that this is no ordinary track. Roxiller throw in, some scratching noises, and some drums to join in with the guitars, which I absolutely love. This must go down very well live, they use real crowd noises going “Hey”, and you realize that this track is absolutely ridiculous. Everything fits in so well here, the guitar reminds me more of Free*Land at times but if it is done well, who cares. The track here must be a crowd favorite because the guitar is used to such great effects and the sound effects just make the song that much more of a beast. Top marks for creativity, originality and for making friendlier dance floor tunes, without a hint of cheese in sight. That is something that no one seems to do very well anymore, too many artists rather sellout and go completely commercial, top marks for TCR and co. for not selling out.

2.The Fear

This is another crowd friendly tune, which no one seems to be making anymore without selling to the massive commercial dance companies. I’m thankful that Roxiller remained true to themselves. I love this start; it’s deep, driving and somewhat dark in places. It uses a “I’m scared” vocal that is repeated and repeated, add to that some indescribable noises and the drive, you got another song that must go down extremely well, wherever played. I always thought Chris Carter was a genius but when you add JHz, you realize you have a bunch of studio wizards at the controls. They know what works and what doesn't, and nothing seems out of place here. This track is incredibly infectious and it grabs you by your coattails from the very beginning and it has this underlying groove as well. Top marks again to Roxiller for making another crowd friendly song without cheese

Conclusion:
I’ve given up trying to explain that we should be surprised by the TCR quality releases and I’ve given up pointing out why they are so different. The simple fact is TCR is probably the best breaks label out there and they certainly know what’s crap and what’s amazing. They only release amazing records and this is certainly no different, this is another must buy record. Roxiller are smart and they certainly crafted two crowd friendly tracks, without any hint of the cheese, which seems to be a problem that is killing the music industry. So many artists go for the quick buck but I have tremendous respect for those who rather remain true to themselves. So to conclude, if there is a poor TCR release out there, I certainly have not seen it and I doubt I will ever see a bad TCR release. So this track is worth the money, so check it out at your local record shop.
