DJ Choose & F team up again after the success of their All Ride / Comprezz productions. We're in for more hard trance again this time with two new tracks - 'Whats Your Poison' and 'Anything 4 Lof'...
DJ Choose - aka Lasse Steen - and 'F' from F&W - aka Lars Frederiksen - have joined their awesome forces once more to summon up some more of their distinctively sounding hard trance on the F&W Recordings imprint.
:: DJ Choose & F - Whats Your Poison / Anything 4 Lof :: F&W Recordings :: FWRECV006
1) Whats Your Poison A short percussive intro feigns minimalism because a huge beat and snappy percussion kick right in soon after the track begins. A small techy and sfx break allows the deep buzzing bassline to emerge and help fuel the track along. The track continues building, now with shrill synths playing a small but sinister hook over and over. All this though is a prelude to the breakdown where the track really begins to take shape. We hear the whispered female vocal of "Whats your poison?" for the first time, along with the beginnings of a bassy riff following the same kind of progression as the synths initially started out with. Everything drops back in with the bassline adopting the bassy riffs pattern and the synths continuing to add their sinister presence. If this wasn't dramatic enough, Choose & F have thrown in some of their snappy and severe filtered cuts which are the icing on this stomping hard trance cake.
2) Anything 4 Lof Here we get another quiet and percussive start followed by the reassurance of a huge beat and introduction of a humming and persisting bassline. This track has a more electronic sound and feel to it mainly because of a buzzing synth rattling away in the background. This techy edge is balanced by some strong trancey synths which take on a more melodic part than what was heard in 'Whats Your Poison'. The melody, which becomes very powerful after the break, is in classic Choose & F style - a sinister, forbidding minor key played in an unrelenting driving style. This track really is about hitting the high note and keeping the power on full right up until the end. Oh how the dance floor will rock.
Conclusion:
Two big and powerful hard trancers from Choose & F here. Strength and energy are the order of the day. They're very evenly matched tracks so its down to personal preference - I think 'Whats Your Poison' has the slight edge, it carries Choose & F's sound a little bit better than 'Anything 4 Lof'. Excellent stuff!
