This is the first studio album in a decade from the multi-talented David Morales. It’s an epic romance with the passionate nuances of house music. How new times treat David's work? find out..
2 Worlds Collide” is the first studio album in a decade from Grammy winner Morales. The album’s first single, “How Would U Feel” is already a club anthem. The song is currently the #1 single on England’s Music Week Club chart and 10* on Billboard Magazine’s Hot Dance Club chart. “How Would U Feel” is commercially available on vinyl at independent dance retailers throughout the world and will be available for downloading next month on Apple iTunes and Napster. Beginning in October, Morales will go on a worldwide tour to promote “2 Worlds Collide.”
Morales long awaited album features several songs from Lea-Lorien, Tamra Keenan, Angela Hunte and Vivian Sessoms.
1. Here I Am (with Tamra Keenan)
Funky rhythm, guitar switches covered with soft, warm vocals. Happy atmosphere, light with no heavy sounds to our gentle ears. The guitar changes might be very low but it takes place in most parts of the song and gives it a dynamic roll.
2. Feels Good (with Angela Hunte)
Groove in the house, if the previous song was light this one has a more straight attitude. Old sounds extended with the more refreshing sounds of today's modern and fashionable genres.
3. Holdin' On (with Lea-Lorien)
Holdin' On has the NY tribal influence, which of course started its way from Morales' own unique style. Melody transmits through the deep growling bass line. In comparison to the first 2 tracks in the album this one has more of a dark feel to it. The amazing vocals by Lea-Lorien and the lyrics give the song its own rhythm without considering the other elements in the background. One of my favorites in this album without a doubt.
4. Can't Forget U (with Lea-Lorien)
Starts with dramatic pads and a techy kick-drum. This is a very laid back song with an RnB development, presented with sweet and cheeky melodies.
5. U Came (with Tamra Keenan)
Inspired from the same unique style as song number three. Awesome groove and absolutely fit for the dancefloors! Ethnic influenced melodies, bongos and more complicated percussive section in this song. Dark and smooth swishes.
6. Let's Go Down (with Robert Owens)
Sheer attitude, sharp bassline, and a fierce ride! What sets this apart from the rest of the tracks in the album are the male vocals. Dark atmosphere, coming and going strings! Deep layers to keep it driving, those funky vocals come from the soul; impulse vent in the dancefloors.
7. Better That U Leave (with Lea-Lorien)
Starts soft and gentle with a sweet vocal, the groove grows slightly. From the aspect of vocal skill this one has 4 different levels to catch your ear and get in love with those clicks - what an ear candy. Warm and floated effects in the background wrap this chocolate with a colored cover. So so sexy.
8. How Would U Feel (with Lea-Lorien)
The first single from this album is already big in the charts, with a massive support on the dancefloor. This one is also the first release on the new Def Mix Label (DMI Records inc.). Co owners Judith Weinstein and David Morales launch the imprint for future releases from the Def Mix Camp. "How would you feel" is ripping the dance floors in Ibiza and around the world and introduces 23 year old co-writer and vocalist Lea-Lorien. Lorien is the daughter of Bowie "Fame" guitar player, Carlos Alomar and singer Robin Clark. "How would you feel" has radio crossover appeal and is sure to work at pop, dance, and progressive formats.
9. 2 World's Collide (with Tamra Keenan)
Long intro introduced with electro sounds and alternative progressive rock beats. I could take a risk and say its a Bowie influenced kind of track, but I won't - more respect for the tune that takes the title of the album. Bouncy with popped up rhythm; swipes with powerful lifts again and again - lots of energy in this piece.
10. Take My Luv (with Vivian Sessoms)
While listening to the last tune of this excellent album I didn't think of one French dance band. Once you listen to it you will feel the same. Bass guitar, chilling sounds, smooth layers - is that a sign to the end of Ibiza session? Oh.. the solo of this flute is what we all need to say "Yes".
Conclusion:
On the first listening I heard the whole CD in the car, the atmosphere in the road and view fit perfectly to this album. Hot summer days are about to end and also the current Ibiza session. This album keeps the taste of this breeze, so we won\'t forget it too quick. Morales wasn\'t trying to be sophisticated with these tracks, he combined the retro music style to the modern feel and added fresh vibe to it and succeed with that! Each tune has a unique style to it, which doesn\'t make it boring at all! Only three words are missing to sum this album up: sexy, sexy sexy!
