When I got this compilation through the post, I scanned the tracklist and realised that it was hard to believe that all these massive tunes actually all come from one record label… Anjuna Beats. To say the past 12 months have been successful for Anjuna Beats is somewhat of an understatement. Read on..
This album is a perfect representation of what Anjuna are and what they have done. From some of my personal favourites in the form of “Radiate” & “Circuits”, through to the potential classic of “No One on Earth”, and future great tracks like “Cre8” and “Surrender”, this album really takes you on a journey of Trance.
On listening to the album it instantly becomes apparent that a lot of thought and effort has been put into it. The tracks flow seamlessly into each other and each tune takes a step forward. Following on from Vol.1, Anjuna have definitely put a bit more consideration into this mix. Gone is the idea of just sticking the biggest tracks that have been out on the label and in are the well selected variants from the year. Although still selecting the best tracks to showcase Anjuna Beats style, the order of play is faultless and the mixing quality second to none. The odd crowd favourites have been chosen at perfect times to bring a good level of familiarity during the mix. As the set progresses you can feel the energy levels build in the tracks where the best parts of the current “Trance sound” are all present.
You may think that you already have most of the tracks on vinyl or CD so there is no point in purchasing the Album. Wrong. The individual tunes are not what this mix is about. This mix is about the musical passion that Anjuna Beats bosses Above & Beyond brilliantly express in their live sets throughout the world. You really get a feel for that passion when listening to this mix. That is what it is about.
Tracklist:
1. Smith & Pledger - Forever (Aspekt Mix) 2. Endre – I Kill For You (Probspot Mix) 3. Stephen J Kroos – Instamatick 4. Menno de Jong – Guanxi 5. Endre – Kallocain (Robert Nickson Mix) 6. DJ Tab – Radiate 7. Aalto – Taurine 8. Jono Grant V Mike Koglin – Circuits 9. Above & Beyond feat Zoë Johnston – No One On Earth 10. Super8 – Cre8 11. Smith & Pledger – Believe 12. P.O.S. – Gravity 13. Above & Beyond present Tranquility Base – Surrender
Conclusion:
If there is one compilation you buy this year, this should be it. Great tunes, great mixing, great compilation. Enough said.
