Its time for a slice of some Tech-Trance action from a collaboration between producers Spider and Marc van Bekkum with 'One'...
DJ Spider is an established trance DJ in Holland and he also owns Holland's best trance club - Club XL - where Marc van Bekkum happens to have a residency. Their production, 'One', has been taken up by names such as: The Thrillseekers, Blank & Jones, Marcel Woods, Eddie Halliwell and Jon O'Bir, among others, so its already proving rather popular...
:: Spider Vs. Marc van Bekkum - One :: 2Play :: PLAY007
A: One (Original Mix) The Original Mix starts with a medley of quite tribal styled percussion driven by a punchy beat. The track slowly progresses, adding a bassline, more percussion and some sfx. This progression continues for a while until the first breakdown where a distant synth makes its way to the foreground with a stabbing rhythm. In full force, the synth has quite a penetrating sound, softened only by reverb. The kind of driven and stabbed sound we have here is good for holding a level of energy on a dancefloor - the rhythmic synth carries a feeling of tension while the bass and percussion still let you get a groove on. The synth drops back for a short period before another breakdown is used to build it back up and kick off for a final burst before the end of the track.
AA: One (Tribe Tech Remix) The Tribe Tech Remix does exactly what it says it does! Right from the start you can hear and feel the more techy, more tribal essence. Another solid kick and busy layer of percussion carry you along until a funky bassline begins to bob up and down - its a great little groovy, funky sound which rolls along really well. Again the track slowly progresses up to the breakdown where the stabbing synth - which has a sharper sound this time round - makes its way on to the stage. The track carries on in a similar way to the Original Mix, but pulls it off maybe a little better due to the funky bassline and synth working together. Plus, the end section has a grander sound to it - a nice touch of variety to finish things off!
Conclusion:
A solid track by Spider and Marc van Bekkum. The Original is geared towards more of an energetic dancefloor while the Tribe Tech Remix pulls some great sounding funky groovy techy stuff!
